The Weekender

Ok maybe life can go back to normal for me or maybe not. As you know, I used to be a regular at my blog at least weekly or bi-weekly. Then in the past 3 years things have taken a turn. But hopefully now since the wedding is over and i'm settling into my new home, I will be able to find time to recapture some of my old hobbies which was going to new restaurants/bars, having my weeknight dinners w/ one of my girls or girlfriends and blogging!

Maybe I should start w/ a more achievable goal initially, one that's a little easier to attain.....blogging. Yes! I can do this in the convenience of my own home. I can muti-task while blogging..... wash clothes.....( I did my first batch of laundry 2 weeks ago and I'm proud to say nothing shrunk and nothing changed colors!) .... wash dishes...( why not use the dishwasher you may ask...ELECTRICITY is NOT FREE...but WATER is FREE, plus the smell of dirty dishes in the washer waiting for it to fill up was NOT CUTE!) ....AND I can COOK!!!!

Ok guys.... it's not like I didn't know how to boil water or anything, but since I lived at home ALL MY LIFE.... it was my MOM'S KITCHEN!!! You know what I mean????? You swear you cleaned up after your mess, but she'd go over it AGAIN.. Now that Awsome and I are living together in our own place, I feel at home and it's OUR kitchen.

I've made 2 dishes on my own which I have to say are pretty good. The first one is a chili cornbread casserole and I found the recipe....no not on the Food Network...but www.ragu.com. It's really quick. I think I finished the whole thing in about 30-45 minutes. The other dish I've learned to make is chicken yellow curry. This has also been a hit w/ Awsome and my co-workers. And that's the other thing, for those who cook and work w/ recipes..... I've gotta learn how to make these things in smaller portions. I'm now bringing my co-workers food or asking my brother to come over and take some. Don't get me wrong, I love leftovers but I can only have it maybe 3 days max and that's it.

I think cooking now has also become my new hobby which I love. I love going to the grocery store and right now i'm find the Asian Markets the cheapest place to go. Next would be Albertson's. I find myself looking for the paper in the mail so I can find deals at the market. OH GOD ! I'm growing up!!!! hahahhaha Like yesterday, I was at Manila Oriental Market and I came out spending $40 w/ 5 bags and the other day I left Albertson's spending $20 w/ 3 bags. I know sometimes you sacrifice on quality, like it's not organic, but at this point i'm thinking about budget, which I still have no clue about???? EEK!!! But I better get to it, we're finally signing papers on this condo and it's about to be ours NEXT WEEK!!!!!!! IF everything goes well. Cross your fingers! We'll keep you posted!!!!!
