Oh man, I have to blog about Awsome and I's adventure last night. As you probably can tell from my blogs in the past year or two they haven't been much but from crtiqueing food places or fairs that we have attended. But last night, we had gone to an art exhibition off of Bush Street in San Francisco that was pretty cool. It was held at the Hotel des Arts, which is a boutique hotel consisting of 51 rooms I think??? I've never seen the inside of these type of hotels and let me tell you...SMALL!!! Oh man...totally reminded me of when I was in Europe. Small room, small shower/or tub and you would literally bump into your roommate if you had one, tryin to dodge each other to get to the other side of the room. Thank god I didn't wear my hightower boots cause I think I would literally trip overmyself just tryin to step down to the next narrowest and tinyiest step in their stairwell, going from floor to floor, 5 floors total!!! I have to say though that if you were just there to sleep, the mattresses were firm and they were dressed in white down pillows and 500 percale sheets. Well that's what it felt like..Yes I was wanting to touch everything. hahahaha
Anyhow, it was great seeing all the different kinds of artwork and the various painted rooms in the hotel. There were a couple that were being occupied which was a bit disappointing. There was one artist, Sam Flores, who had a picture of the room he painted and it looked awsome!!!! Hopefully, we'll be able to pay a visit before they repaint the room.
And then there were these artists who collaborated together to call themselves Vinyl Killers. They are artists who spray paint stencils onto vinyl records. You know records..that some DJ's still use and spun on a record player or turn table should I say. Due check out their website. It was so awsome to see. I guess you'd call itUrban Artwork.
Anyhow, to get to the fun part. Well goin thru the hotel, good music, wonderful art, free appetizers and boos were fun but the most memorable part of the evening was meeting Amanda and Josh!!!! We had gone down the street to eat at Cafe Bastille. We lucked out by getting there at 8pm and immediately getting seated under the heating lamps. Although it was a perfect night to eat outdoors with the other 200 people in the alley, I'm always cold. So Awsome and I put our order in for an order of crab cakes and the steak to share. And here comes along Amanda and Josh who sit right next to us. MInd you we don't know these folks. They were total strangers. If you took a look at the link, you'll see that the tables are right next to each other..LITERALLY! Anyhow, our food finally comes and I totally over hear her talkin about our food, and she politely asks if we had ordered the special. And from there an hour and half later, we shared our childhood experiences, our jobs, number of siblings we have, where we live and finally she asks our names!!!!!
I think it was so memorable for the both of us cause it reminded us of how we both used to go out a lot seperately and meet new people and just plain out friendly folks. Do you recall an moment in your life where you met a total stranger and just had a good vibe w/ them and the conversation w/ them was endless. I swear we almost went w/ them to Pink for more drinks and conversation. But in the end we exchanged info, hugs and kisses and parted ways. Awsome and I both left walking away w/ big smiles and just reminscing on how great our TABLE FOR FOUR was!!!! Thank you Amanda and Josh for such a great evening!!!! We should do it again!!! |
