VIVA LAS VEGAS BABY! Oh man, I just came back from my girl's Bachelorette w/ 24 girls deep struttin thru the casinos in our skimpy outifts. hee hee hee..well not really. You know me..i'm a classy chick. hee hee hee Oh and YES I did say 24!!!! Can you say we STOOD OUT!!! Friday night started out w/ a pre-party in the suite and we strolled out to Raw which is located at the Luxor. We supposedly had the hooks in the end we had to dish out 30 bucks for a booth w/ bottle service. We walk in and it's a pretty nice club. Kinda small though I think??? A round dance floor w/ 2 dj booths on either side of the the dance floor. You've got 2 dancers on the boxes and I thought they were topless???? but no...just a nude colored bandeau I think??? But I don't think these dancers compare to Rum Jungle over at Mandalay Bay. What was cool though they finally played a hip hop segment!!! THANK GOD!! Sorry folks, but i'm not really into house. I think I only get into it if i'm really faded..which I had vowed I would not get that tore up on this trip. Ok so peeps were tired of Raw and plus they started playin house again so we took a taxi over to Baby's which is located at Hard Rock. IT WAS FREE!!! WOO HOO... and they were playing HIP HOP and DANCE HALL!!!! Ok now it's ON!!!!
Saturday comes around and we head out to Light at the Bellagio. While we were standing in line..all 30 of us..we had some add-on guests w/ us, we overheard one guy say " I don't think this place is goin to be pretty good tonight." WTF...just cause he saw a whole bunch of Asian women in the guest line... THAT'S SO WACK!!! But I guess we've all stated that one time or another goin to a club or venue. But you can't always judge a book by it's cover can you??? I just had to point that out. Back to Light, this club looks kinda classy w/ a lot of mirrors and black/white dance floor but it does not have a lot of seating area. Which means you're standing the whole time which SUCKS!!! We arrive and they're playing DISCO!!! WOO HOO!!! I admit that I love disco and I can hang w/ this music. It totally reminded me of Awsome and my days at Polyesther's w/ Ms. VOODOO and Mighty Mom!!!! So since the girls were diggin this, we headed out.
Next stop...OLYMPIC GARDENS BABY!!!! We rolled out in a shuttle. Hey folks, if you're in a big group like us, this is the way to go. $2 for each person. That's way cheaper than takin a cab that'll only fit 5-6 peeps right??? This was my first time being at a Unisex Strip Club. This was a trip. It's 2 floors and on the first floor where you walk in, it's the female strippers on their little stage w/ booths all around and chairs right in front of the mini stages. I think I was in AWE!!!! Cause you just see women in these little skimpy outfits just walkin around..and there's some women sitting w/ their men in the booths..or maybe they're call girls...who knows???? But the men were just chillin, watchin.. So then you walk up the stairs and this is where all the MALE STRIPPERS ARE..and the only men there are the STRIPPERS and WAITERS!!!! And the vibe here is totally different. You've got women WAILING AND SCREAMING at the top of their lungs... I was in awe over this. These men actually look like them muscle freaks on them calendars!!!! THEY DO EXIST!!! buahhahaha..
So what happened at OG's??? Can't say..hee hee hee.. sorry..you know the rules. So where do we end up at next??? Baby's and we roll up in an Stretch Excursion!!! These rides are pretty dope!!! Totally pimpin!!! No wonder peeps love these things... But when we got to Baby's, they were at max capacity.. UGH... and some of us weren't down to wait for 30 min. or longer to get in. So a few of us bounced back to the hotel, changed our shoes and headed out to Caramel, which is located at The Bellagio. This venue is pretty chill. Reminds me of Rosewood here in the city. Here we had a GREAT TIME... Met some folks from LA who happen to be chiropractors and BOY WONDER and his boys rolled thru too!!! Finally we get to hook up at least once this whole trip. He was there for his buddy's bachelor party, but why did the bachelor already roll back to the hotel to go to sleep... PARTY POOPER!! buahhaha...
What was freaky though was that there was this guy who was chillin behind us at Caramel and totally eaves dropping on our conversation. We closed the place down and he was still there and when we walked out he was walking w/ us a few feet away..WTF!!! We were exiting out of the hotel and we came to a divide trying to figure out which route to take, and why did the man stop in his tracks too!!!! Goodness gracious...freaky huh??? We finally lost him thank god. We were goin to grub, walked the damn strip all the way to Luxor. Why we didn't take a cab??? who knows??? cause no one took initiative since we were all tipsy!!! oh well.... got to the Luxor, drank some juice and bounced. But wasn't the idea of comin down here was to grub??? I think we all lost our appetites after that long haul... kinda funny..you're suppose to be hungry after exertin energy like that. But I guess we all just wanted to sleep.
Ok so now i'm finally endin this entry 2 weeks later....WHY??? Cause this chick partied to hard her last night. Got back to the hotel at 6:30am, packed her shit up, couldn't sleep cause I was afraid we were goin to OVERSLEEP, woke up, came back home at 4:30pm and crashed out and frickin caught a cold/flu and finally has recovered TODAY, which is June 3, 2003... So kids, take your echinecea and make sure you get in your power nap before an up all night adventure!!!!

WOW! It's been a couple of weeks since i've been here huh? Sorry about that. So much has been going on lately and that i've been pretty overwhelmed. But i'll go into that another time. I wanted to share my first experience at the Ballet! YES! Awsome and I had gone to the ballet Saturday evening. For those of you who've never been, the ballet is usually held in the War Memorial Opera House. I know Opera House??? Go figure??? This magnificent building is located right next to Davies Symphony Hall on Van Ness.
When you plan on going to the ballet, I would suggest for you to arrive at least 45 min. to 1 hour before the program starts. Why you ask??? Well, since they've closed the Fell St. ramp, expect traffic, then of course looking for parking. I would suggest forget parking on the street and just plainly park in one of the available parking-lots for $10. Another plus going early, is that you can enjoy your coffee, glass of wine or treats before the performance. And then there's the whole going to the bathroom for that last minute visit to the toilet, finding your seats and reading the programs.
You may ask?? Well what's the attire for the ballet?? Well, from looking around, most men were dressed up in suits w/ ties and the women were dressed in nice slacks, skirts or even evening gowns. Pretty nifty I think. Although there were some people dressed down in jeans, plaid pants and coulats( is that how you spell it?), I would suggest gettng spiffy!! hee hee hee
So we saw Program 7. It wasn't one long story like the Nuttcracker, there were 4 mini performances. The Continuum was more of an abstract performance. Yes!! Abstract Ballet. The music did not sound lively and graceful, but sharp, abrupt and melancholly at times. It wasn't your common performance piece you usually see. There weren't a whole bunch of pirouettes and leaps. They actually had a piece that looked like the game where everyone is holding hands and tangled up, and their teammate has to unravel them w/o their hands coming apart???? I reallly liked Jinkx. There was so much color and feeling within the costumes and the characters. Oh yeah..there was a story to this one. The Aria was a bonus performance by one of their leading male dancers. Lastly, Paquita was another love story performance.
All of the performances were synopsis of the actual ballet, which I didn't know. So now if I loved Jinx and Paquita, I wonder how much elaborate the actual program is??? One day.... But we got a wonderful bonus at the end of the ballet. Since there leading male performer is retiring, you saw a mass of people gather in the aisles, throwing bouquets of flowers for him. It was so wonderful to see this. I was even getting teary eyed.... One of the bouquets even hit one of his female dancers in the chest and caught it. buahhahaha... I would recommend going to the ballet at least once. All in all, I had a wonderful time, except during intermission where I finally got my cup of coffee only to down in since intermission is only about 10 min.!!! |
