Die Zauberflote

Barbara Damashek is a Tony nominated writer and director of both theater and musical theater. She is bringing a new twist to SF State's production of W.A. Mozart's 'Die Zauberflote' [The Magic Flute]. If you've seen the movie 'Amadeus' then you'll recognize this opera as the one where he passes out before he dies.

Anyway, because of our high profile director, the care and thought into the theatrical part of the opera is probably a little more than we music people thought. She's really big not only on the scenery but has an actual vision for this opera. Meaning that this will be more than just cool sets and cool costumes and the people coming out singing. We're actually doing pretty intense blockings and staging.

Which is all fine and dandy but it's killing those of us who don't get home before 11pm. I'm so fungry right now it's horrible!

Anyway, blah blah and waaah waaah, right?

I hope any of you who read this will be able to come by to the opera. It's playing the last two Fridays and Saturdays in April and the first Friday/Saturday in May.
