Welcome Back
Ahh the first day of the fall semester!
Hung out a bit with some friends from school the last couple of days. On Monday me and the other students of Corey Head took him out to dinner at Chevy's. We're so special that he even gave Dr. Atkins the night off!
Then afterwards kicked it with a friend who just moved back from Napa [where she was for the summer]. We talked and watched olympics all night.
We also hung out last night with my other friend [back from Alaska] and another friend [from Yakima] and went to Target. The Yakima rooms with another friend [who's from Chicago but was away at camp in Michigan].
This is the first time I was really, really excited to see friends who were away for the summer. I knew there was a reason I couldn't wait for school to start.
Now I'm off to badminton and then Chamber Singers.

It's A Small World [revisited]
On Friday my friend JoeJazz wanted to go and celebrate his new hiring as a music teacher at an elemantary school in Danville, so we decided to do the karaoke thing at Silver Cloud on Lombard/Webster in the city.
So I rolled up with a few friends and luckily the people there no me [from my infamous bday party back in Feb] so the DJ slipped me in right away. I sang "Since I Don't Have You" (Guns 'n Roses style) and after it was done I went to the bar to get a drink and this couple sitting there were giving me props and what not.
I stayed a little while longer [JoeJazz sang "I Feel Like A Woman" and I sang "Shout"] and right before we left the couple from earlier got up because the BF was singing a song. After the song, we got talking and it turns out that he recognized my roommate because they both worked together at the commissary in San Diego. So I exchanged numbers so we could go party at Silver Cloud again.
Saturday night I headed to my friend Angie's house for a little get together. As I walked into the backroom, sure enough the couple from the night before were sitting there. Turns out that he rooms with my friend Angie as well! Yeah, no kidding.
Anyway, it made my last weekend before school starts pretty fun.

Damn, this whole 'finding a roommate' thing sucks @ss.
On a lighter 'note' I finally pulled together the vocalists for my dad's recording project. We'll be doing an a cappella version of one of his songs which will be recorded Tuesday. The only bummer is that I called peeps who couldn't even call me back to tell me 'yes' or 'no'. Oh well, I have the group and that's what counts.

My dad played once again at Alameda's annual Art and Wine Faire this weekend. He invited me to sing a couple of tunes, Moonglow and Route 66. Then I walked around and proceeded to get a really good buzz off all the beer I drank. Plus it was hot and I got burned on my face. But it was worth it.
Alameda has a small town feel. I was recognized by a lot of people I haven't seen in a while. Plus they know my brothers and I almost like we're a single unit. So on sunday it was doubly cool to walk around with them and say hi to the old peeps who we grew up with.
My coworker agreed to work the early shift Sunday for me which meant that I got the whole weekend off, which was nice. I got to kick back and relax for once. In fact, I'm not working for a whole week, which, while doing wonders for my body and soul, doesn't help the pocketbook situation any.
Still, I'm not stressing. That is, unless my cell gets cut off and I don't get a phone call from my friend who will be in town on Tuesday. I usually wouldn't care but this friend happens to be a girly that I'm quite fond of.
Fingers crossed

First of all, go see Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle
That has to be one of the funniest movies I've seen of all time. And not just because they're high and have the munchies. Not just because there's a little gratuitous nudity. Not because there's a whole bunch of slapstick humor. And not because of Neil Patrick Harris or bodily waste jokes.
Well, yeah, those were big reasons why.
But what's was more amazing is that the leads were played by two Asian Americans who were nothing more than themselves. Sure, there was a convenient store scene and an East Asian Club scene, but other than that it was two guys hanging out and having a crazy @ss night. Now the nation knows that Asian Americans CAN carry a feature length Hollywood movie.
Next step: Now we need to have them in a feature length role that's written by Asian Americans.
