I'm signed up at NYUsingles.com my first online matchmaking thingamajig
It's free, and it's cheaper than joining the NYU alumni. The pickings are slim unfortunately.
But you never know!

I love this admnistration. Last night on the radio, the White House was asked whether or not they still believed there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, after considering all the reports from CIA.
They replied, yes definitely. We believe they were there but Saddam had them shipped to Syria before the war.
Comedy!

I am dying to sail. I mean, this has to be perfect weather for sailing, besides the fact that the sun sets at 5pm. I look out my office window and this weather... man, this weather is just calling out to me.
My cheapo sailing club unfortunately doesn't start til April. That's probably why it's so cheap to begin with. It's maintainence month(s). I think i might go this weekend to help scrub the boats. Kinda sexy come to think of it. Overalls, scrubs and cute sailors. That, unfortunately is not going to scratch my itch. Need to sail.
Spent this morning shopping for new sailing clubs and lessons. $500 is the average, if I want to start this month. Or I can wait til April when my club starts up again. The program director claims if I spend more time helping them with maintainence, I could start earlier with private lessons from him... what a flirt. He doesn't know that the President of the club already hit me up for a date.

Such a fabulous San Francisco day. Sun is shining, 65degree weather, no fog. Would be out if it weren't for soccer AND football on tv.
Brady, Donovan, Brady, Donovan...
such heavenly delights to grace our fields and tv screens. Makes for a perfect day of channel surfing.

Tis the season, you know. For hen's night/ bachelorette parties etc. We call it hen's night in Singapore. Hen's night and stag's night. Kinda funny when you think about it. I always imagine a hen and a stag at the altar taking the vows.
Anyway, it seems everyone is getting married left right and center. One girl I know is having her bachelorette party in Tokyo. I'm told that it's not impossible to catch a Thursday night flight to Tokyo and a Sunday one back to San Francisco. We'll be in Roppongi and Nishi- azubu for a weekend of sake and sapporo. It'll after all be spring break when we go. Hopefully no one will show up to work with a hangover, and there will be no DUIs since we will be travelling by bus, train and plane.
Another girl I know has hers organized at the Raffles Hotel in Singapore. Tres chic. No wild nights. Rather it will be celebrated in Town and Country style. Marrying into money. Lucky her. So we are all invited to bring our Queen Anne hats and gloves and british clipped accents to the table as we dine on little bitty Martha Stewart pastries.
I get to decide which one to go Am not spending $1500 on airplane tickets for both. Looking online last night, I found cheap cheap tickets to New York though. Somehow that seems much more enticing than spending the weekend answering inquisitive questions from folks from long before about my love life.

I decided not to buy the boots. As much as I want it, it doesn't make sense to own 6 pairs of boots. I also decided not to return my pink suede boots. In a moment of vanity on Saturday night, I decided to wear them. They looked fabulous. More importantly, they made my legs look fabulous, ala Julia Robert's forever legs. I didn't wear socks with the boots cos they were half a size too small. I'm a 7 and this was a 6half. Strangely they weren't as uncomfortable as I thought they would be. My feet have felt worse. So yea, the story is I'm keeping my pink boots.

This year is starting out to be a very um covetous year. I WANT so many things. I think I better do all this shopping before Lent. I want a PS2, I want wireless internet, I want yoga lessons, salsa lessons, I want a pair of Frye boots. I want I want I want. This is what happens when one does not shop regularly. The forces are unleashed. Fortunately I still have the sanity of mind to stash my credit cards in a secret hiding place and not in my wallet.

I got my AM//Pm Yoga dvd yesterday and tried it out. Was rather a disappointment. I did the PM section part of it yesterday. First of all, it was too short. 20 minutes of yoga only. And it wasn't just that, because it was 20 minutes, there wasn't enough time to really stretch so you could actually do the harder poses by the middle of the session. I'm a little obsessed with this video yoga/ pilates thing. $100 a month for yoga lessons seems a little high and knowing me, I'd probably not be able to commit to a regular schedule. Having it on DVD just seems so much more convenient cos I can sit in front of the TV at midnite and just do it. The wonders of technology. One day I'm sure, we'll all just not leave our houses and just stay in, blog, do yoga and get chinese delivery.

Am resisting the URGE to buy this pair of boots. Arrggh. Once I start shopping, it's so HARD to end! What's a girl gonna do?

Maybe should have resolution #6: win the lottery.

Must start playing today.

I reckon I have to have some new year resolutions to live by even if they're silly ones and even if I'm going to be 8 days late or more. It just makes you feel just a little bit more accomplished at the end of the year. Or not.
Here's last year's resolutions:
1) Find new boyfriend: did not do. Failed miserably. But happy that I failed miserably.
2) Save money: pretty good. Reached my target, even though it was small. Gives me more incentive this year to save even more.
3) Read: um... not really. Was on a sprint at the end of the year trying to make sure I got to my quota of 5 works of fiction. Don't think I quite made it unless you count re-reading the Alchemist, and reading Tin Tin comics.
4) Exercise more: other than spurts of trying out basketball and softball (and being hit in the face by them), I don't think kept it up at all. I did join a sailing club but sailing hardly qualifies sometimes. Sitting in the boat, basking in sun waiting for the wind doesn't really count as exercise.

This year, I'm going to keep #2, #3 and #4 as resolutions again. Hopefully #4 gets to a better start by this weekend. I plan on getting a schedule from the local yoga place and running on weekends since I have a more flexible schedule this year. But note the operative word for the day is "plan". I'm going to replace #1 with Learn to Cook. I have 12 months to make something delicious and edible... that's a pretty good deadline. As for finding a boyfriend, I'll say the same thing I say to telemarketers, "not interested, thank you".

Two boots, two cities and the BSE
Goodness me, it is 2004 already!

Spent the last four days of the old year, and the first four days of the new year in vegas and la respectively! Vegas knows how to take your money even if you're not a gambler. I put in no money into the slots or on a table. If I'm going to spend $50, it will not be thoinking it into some stupid machine where the fate of my $50 is determined by random chance. Nope, no siree. My $50 and more went to: 2 pairs of boots (one of which I will return because it is a PINK pair of stilletto boots), post chirstmas pressies for my family, one coffee maker and one Bellagio buffet. By far the best buy was my other pair of boots. Found a pair of Jill Sander riding boots at 75% off. Now, tell me you can beat that price!

We took a friend's advice and decided to cancel our Santa Monica reservations so that we could stay in Korea-town. It was a fabulous decision. Living in K-town was one thing. Partying in K-town is another. Think kimchi, soju and ramen, repeated in every bar we went to. Nothing quite like it. The typical american bar doesn't quite live up to it because it doesn't serve food, and they always play music so loud that you find yourself yelling the entire conversation. I was stuffed, drunk and stumbling back to the hotel room very happy.

The rest of LA was a culinary experience. We went to Palms, where the Thai Elvis sings nightly. Thai food in LA is outstanding. There is simply no comparison. Papaya salad, fried fish, tom yum gai... We discovered C & O Trattoria in Venice beach, and Roscoe's fried chicken and waffles in Hollywood. SF pales in comparison.

Resolutions for the new year? Haven't thought of any really. I am going to lay off beef completely. Absolutely do not trust USDA at all and their assurances. I lived through the British mad cow scare. Til today, Singapore still bans british beef. I hope they ban american beef as well. It's complete nonsense that the case is isolated to one and only one cow. BSE is contracted through animal feed. Can't tell me that only one cow contracted BSE from the feed it shared with all the rest of the other cows. Am going to serve my public duty by referring you to this website. .
