The Baby Blog

A blog of the days in the life of Mighty Mom as she goes about raising her sons...and saving the world while she's at it.

Happy Birthday ...

Saturday, October 28, 2006
AJ! Yesterday you turned 5! (okay this was written awhile back, but wouldn't publish!)

You have grown to be a smart little boy... sometimes almost too smart. But you are always a loving son, who showers me with loving hugs and kisses. Thank you for being a blessing in my life. One that I thank God for each day. One that I ask for God to keep you safe and healthy, and to give me the strength and patience to be a good and nurturing parent.

Watching you now, I don't where all the time has gone. You are growing up too fast. I can barely even carry you anymore... day by day you become less like my "baby". I promise you as I did the day you were born, that I will be here for you even when you think you don't need a mom... you and your brother (and your daddy, too) are my life.

Happy Birthday, son... I LOVE YOU

Party Weekend

Wednesday, October 25, 2006
It actually started Friday with a party that I ended up not going to. Sorry Shelly, but by the end of the day I was just too exhausted to drive out to Burlingame! So we went to the David's house and I played the "bad friend". Aileen and friends were jamming through the party favors for Alexa's birthday. By the time we arrived, I was too scared to interrupt the flow! Honestly I was just party planned out from all the things I need to do for work (Hall of Fame event is this Friday!)
Saturday we were late in getting to the hall which was only 20 min. away from our home. But early enough to look like Damoomoo was set-up before the rest of the guests arrived. As 'moomoo mentioned, they really go all out for their parties, and really put our party planning to shame. They thought of everything for Alexa's 7th Birthday Luau! The kids got a sugar rush from the slush machine all day long and lumpia to fill their stomachs. I really love watching AJ and Mio get along so well with the kids of all our "old school PACE" friends. It's just another big family!
After the party we prepared for Drama Queen's big day. I watched again as Gooseneps prepared the BEAUTIFUL centerpieces, and actually fell asleep early... I woke up early (well compared to the others), and got up at the same time Tin had to leave to prep for hair & make-up for the bridal party. UPSer and I grabbed a free cup of coffee, and mingled back in the room, when we decided to eat breakfast. Good thing, cuz I ended up not eating until dinner time!
Drama Queen looked absolutely beautiful! Our little section of Likha girls & gays actually started to cry!
The event was fun and a small reunion of sorts. It is nerve racking to have to perform in front of ALL the previous DIVAS from when I first started, now 10years later! But the Cheeseballs were a great band, but the waitstaff took our food away too early! Congrats to the newlyweds, be safe but have fun on the honeymoon!

Book Club 101

Thursday, October 19, 2006
The First Rule of Book Club:
Pick up the darn book...

Second Rule of Book Club:
Finish it before you meet, or come to dinner late & miss all the talk about the book, AND then finish reading it later!

Third Rule of Book Club:
Must have a sex scene in it?! Hey, maybe that should be the first rule.

Last Friday I met up with the Darlingtons for dinner and the first official Book Club meeting. Note: I still haven't reached the "sex" part. Although the start of the evening was just WRONG (thanks to "The One w/ a Teetee"), I did enjoy what was left of the dinner and conversation with the ladies. I have to tell you that is weird now that almost everyone was married (don't worry, Squeak, no rush) and/or have kids. It really changes the whole topic of conversation, but it's great to be able to laugh about all the "pull your hair out" experiences. Thank you Darlingtons for a much needed break from "life" as I know it!

Next was a crafting party for gooseneps. Sorry but I just wasn't feeling creative that night... By the time I got there, I was ready to sleep... and despite all the alcohol, after party eats from El Farolito, and hanging til 3am, Damoomoo still claimed he was okay to drive! Yeah, right... I could see his eyes drooping from the start, and as stubborn as he is ... he argued he was fine... So, when he finally agrees to pull over (at the parking lot for the toll area) he is OUT even before I hit Berkeley! I think at that point I was irritated everytime he would wake up and ask "Are you okay"... At that point just let me drive, while I keep myself awake and aware from all the crazies on the road.

Okay, time has passed, lessons learned... Now it's back to work! I have the big event for my work coming up (which I am the designated event planner), so lots of errands and small tasks to complete, on top of all the other projects I have to do! eeeek!

P.S. I donated blood for the first time (hopefully this bruise on my arm will be less visible by this weekend), and I have jury duty on HALLOWEEN!

I cannot be a single mom!

With damoomoo on a litte vacation with his buds, I am left at home with the rugrats --- DURING A WORK/SCHOOL Week!

I fell asleep with the kids last night at 9:30. It was easy cuz I made them sleep with me on my bed! With my mom cancelling her cooking trip to the house last night, the kids and I had a Mickey D's picnic in our family room. I let them play a little (w/ the toys from the happy meal), do a little homework, and I watched my tv (oh i took them for a walk around the neighborhood for some exercise, too). Gave them baths and that was it. I didn't take out the garbage, I didn't freeze their apple juice in their bottles (just the juiceboxes), and I got scared at every noise I heard in and around the house.

I apparently hit the OFF button instead SNOOZE on my alarm, creating a bad start to a hectic morning. I had a hard time figuring out what to do first: fix their lunch, take my shower, wake them up, etc. So for 10 minutes I just went through my closet trying to figure out what clothes I have to wear for the day! I almost forgot to pack their juices, I didn't even bother making myself coffee this morning, I barely put on any make-up, I decided to wash my hair just so I can easily pull it up/back, I locked and re-checked all the windows/doors, I was paranoid abou the alarm so I set it from the inside, and finally we were off to school ----in time to hit traffic!

I did have a fit with Mio this morning who, after I just finished telling him "do not throw your cup on the floor", did just that! I even had AJ get out of his carseat and grab the cup from the floor the first time. They had done so well the night before, that I gave them one toy each this morning.... and what made it worse, was when I asked Mio for his toy back, he said, "NO". I was pissed.

We finally made it to school, and I sat there telling Mio why I was sooo mad. He has always had a difficult time listening and following directions, but today was just not the day! Even the fact that he refuses to vocally answer my questions started to make me mad... ugggh. Most of the time he would just look away or point! great.

I made it to work... trying go through piles of stuff, bought coffee, and got my "morning call" from damoomoo, who apparently is enjoying the Vegas buffets! Hopefully my mom will make it out to the house tonight so I can actually do some laundry, put clothes away, and they will be entertained and fed !

Nanny 911

Monday, October 09, 2006
Friday night we were at a fellow softball family's house. While the hubby's were messing around w/ the computer I was with Tanya watching TV and catching up. We were watching one of those nanny rescue shows. And the family they featured had an 8-year old who was "off the hook", wishing her mom and dad were dead, punching her younger siblings, etc... it just made you want to kiss your kids!

Then came Saturday.

Damoomoo left early for a gig, leaving me with kids at home. It was okay because we had plans to go to a party later that afternoon, but first the playroom had to be cleaned. The boys were taking care of business for a little a bit and I gave them warnings before it was time to get ready, "You have 15 min, before it's time to get ready. Make sure your playroom is cleaned".

I go in at 12:30 and it was worse than when they started... popcorn that I just made all over, games for their game cube laying around, toys in every inch of the floor, the mess was endless. So I tell them, "this is a mess, you don't know how to take care of your toys! Do you want me to just throw them all away?!"

AJ responds... "go ahead." And sure enough... I grabbed the garbage bags and dumped all their toys into them. As mad as I was, I even told them to get out of the room, pointed upstairs, and told them to stay out of my way! AJ cried, Mio bored himself to sleep, and I told them that we are no longer going to the party! If this attitude continues, there will be no birthday party either!!

Everything was dumped into the garage. They will now have to earn their toys back one at a time. They will earn it back:
  • If they get ready for bed without being told more than once.
  • If AJ does his homework with out arguments.
  • If they get ready in the morning without causing arguments...

No toys will be opened even if they are gifts from his birthday. They now only have their books and will have to ask for their movies when they want to watch them.

I feel like I am on a hormonal rage, topped with anxiety since Damoomoo will be on 'boys trip' to vegas starting tomorrow. I am NOT looking forward to the single mom trip I will be on until Friday... I just wish I didn't have to get the kids ready (plus their lunches) in the morning!!! uggghhh!!

Old news is still Blogger news

Okay it's been 3 days since this actually took place but it is an experience I HAVE to write and share with my 'readers'....

On Tuesday I got to see the Guvernator in person at my work. Yes, he used the home of the Comets as the stage for his press conference! Trust me it was a stage. The campus was literally on a lock down. buildings were closed off, some classes were instructed to stay in the classroom, while the press conference was taking place. Highway Patrol, Police, and Secret Agents were everywhere, except the rooftops (at least from what I can see).

The visit was kept hush hush, which didn't bode well for most of the members of our campus. And even though the whole visit was about more funding for our schools, no students were allowed to attend or even be informed. But I was able to make it in and catch some photos of the Terminator!

Yes, I admit that I was a little starstruck. In fact I couldn't even tell you exactly what he was talking about! I watched as many newscasts as I could (actually Damoomoo dvr'd them for me) and was so excited to see the clips of him at our school!

I tried posting pictures but so far have not been successful... Voodoo please HELP?!
