Hallo from the Netherlands

Tuesday, June 27, 2006
It is about 10 pm here, and the sun is still setting! It was a pretty long trip considering that we had a four delay in Dulles still sitting in the plane, waiting for the thunderstorms to settle down enough for us to take off. the landing into dulles was halla shaky. But even worse was the fact that I did not sleep at all the night before because I was still packing and cleaning the house. damoomoo was dj ing a party! So I can´t tell you much of our take off from SFÒ!! Now we enjoyed a free day in Groningen, apparently a college town full of shops and stuff... Esprit is still open here!!!

well our phone tree has been activated so i must get to calling my peeps!

Why I am blogging I do not know...

In preparation for my vacation I have so much to do at work (and at home).
Today I:
  • cranked out 3 press releases
  • 2 flyers
  • 2 thank you letters
  • made about 100 copies of different things
  • explained to 10 co-workers the nature of my vacation (and the dance troupe)
  • had an extended lunch with my boss and work team
  • ran into an old co-worker
  • and still have to finish items to be used at a community event (table tent signs, quiz questions to win prizes, etc.)

AGGGGGHH... I will only be able to rest when I am on that plane...

five years I have been married...

five fingers on each hand

five toes on each foot

five, my FAVORITE number

five, born on the fifth day December!

FIVE... cavities found in Mio's little mouth...

Damoomoo, since he is sooo conveniently still not working, is on doctor duty this week.
Today he took Mio to the dentist... which was a very nice office and staff, Specializing in Pediactric Dentistry. The office had video games, etc. (so that's where AJ stayed during the appointment). And as squirmish and stubborn as Mio is, he apparently did VERY WELL (clap, clap, clap) during his appointment. He even did really well during the X-rays (maybe better than Ms. Luzon, hehehe), the cleaning, and the examination.

BUT FIVE cavities! That's what he gets for not letting us brush his teeth until he was TWO!! Oh well we will wait and see... he has a follow up appointment in July. Tomorrow is his Doctor's appointment to check out his allergies... yes, he is the booger boy, and hopefully now for a good reason... not just the "never ending" cold!

It's Official...

I am EXHAUSTED...

The Ethnic Dance Festival rehearsals and performances just killed me! Ever since Sunday morning, I have been fighting a sore throat... sure enough this morning... it hurts to talk! Now I should record my voicemail greetings, cuz I have that deeper voice!!

Here are my famous quotes of the weekend:
1. Carrots
2. Flood light
3. Free ballin' (in ethnic dance you can guess where that comes from!)
4. FABULOUS!
5. Stomping, stomping
6. "run out..."
7. "Banga Turns!"
8. Is there food yet?
9. Is there coffee yet?
10. I thought there were 2 Filipino groups!

What was your favorite quote for the EDF?!

Now I have to get in gear and pack costumes, clothes, and the boys stuff! Gotta get all the appropriate records and paperwork in place. Buy a purse I can use on the trip, and even a handy hand-carry bag that I can use... We decided to go to Germany after the Amsterdam show.. World Cup here we come!

Things I thought about while driving to work...

Tuesday, June 13, 2006
Let me back track a moment...
My commute is close to an hour each way
Now that it is summer vacation, I commute by myself
I work longer days, so I thankfully miss the major commute rush

So now back to my point... I noticed the following things while I was driving...
  1. No matter which car I am driving, there will always be at least 1 bag of cereal in the back (usually on the floor)
  2. I still listen to Radio Disney even without the kids in the car
  3. I never take a sip of my coffee until I reach a very specific point in my commute, and stop drinking from the time I merge onto the freeway, until I pass a certain freeway junction
  4. Although I am right-handed, if I have to drive with one hand, I feel more in control and comfortable driving with my left hand. Does that come with years of driving pawis steering stick shift cars?
  5. I actually miss talking to my kids in the car, even those days when they drive me crazy from fighting and crying.

You gotta play big...

to win big... And for the very first time I finally understood what that meant. After our impromptu busted bbq, 'gelo, ed, and ledge joined us for a late night trip Cache Creek. Now understand that this place is only a 1/2 hour drive from our house, but we have not gone there since we moved in. We were without children that night as well, since my mom and stepdad came to cart them away for the evening.

So, off we go to the land of the gambler. I am normally very hesitant to put down money, usually only sticking to Wheel of Fortune quarter slots. (note: i have always had a hard time calculating how much I was really winning when the spins came up. thinking I was winning a lot, but in reality it was only $6.00!!) With all the other slots being mainly "video", I passed on all of them... my only option -- $1.00.

$3.00 per spin got you the "big money spins" so it wouldn't be worth playing unless you did the max bet... dropped 40.00 and lost in 3 minutes. Walked around some more watching all the Asians gather around the Bacarat tables. Black Jack was mostly $15 to $25 minimum... even more scary since I learned that there was real strategy to the game. Decided to go back to the $1.00 slots. dropped my second 40.00 and in my 2nd or 3rd spin... it just kept going.... I won $400.00. I kept playing because I wanted to "spin" the wheel. machine next to me opens and we just stare at it. Homeboy comes up, inserts his "playa" card... and ding ding ding... He won $1,000!!! he walked away soon after.

I continued to play until I reached 350, and right at the very end... ding ding ding... I won another 200! Played a little more until I went down to 400!! That was it.. I took my ticket we went to eat some dessert and I cashed out! It felt so nice to have the bills in my hand... I treated damoomoo and I to sushi with the likha folks after practice, and I bought me 3 pairs of pants for the tour and a pair shoes on sale for work.

Daddy's getting a new iPod too! well that's not just from my winnings, but for Father's Day and for the tour. I don't think I'll play quarter slots again...I'm hooked... let's go again!
