Spring Training

Wednesday, February 22, 2006
Okay, I'm not the most hard core fan of sports, especially when it comes to watching it on TV. However, I love watching it live... Candlestick (yes, it will always be the "stick") PacBell to SBC to now AT T Park, and of course the Arena for the Warriors. There is something about being at the game that makes watching sports so fun!! Maybe it's the garlic fries, the expensive hot dogs and soda, or the hot coffee to get me through the last quarter or the7th inning stretch...

I have not been to a Giants game in about 2 years, but will always love that park. Yes, they still have Bonds, they may even continue to struggle with their pitchers, and will always remember how close they got to the winning the World Series (sniff, sniff...), but now it will never be the same because #6 will no longer be there! He was that cute white guy, the golden glove winner for his never ending coverage of first base! Yes he struggled with the hitting.. but who doesn't... He just doesn't look good with #84 and in RED... Damn you Boston!!! They won't even play the Giants this season!! Does that mean I have to actually watch the A's?!

Geez, they are just getting rid of all the cute guys on the team... catcher Johnson, outfielder Cruz, Jr!!! This is a sad day in my world of sports... as small as it is!

To Whom it May Concern:

Please excuse Mighty Mom from blogging... it has been awhile since my last blog...
In the meantime I have had another long weekend which was spent like so:

Saturday -
cooked scrambled eggs and rice for my kiddies
get dressed and bathed (all 3 of us). Damoomoo went & played softball - what the heck happened to the rain the weather folks were warning us about!!
Arrived at Mathmajor's house very late for the "welcome party" stayed for a bit... long enough for the boys to play with Mathmajor Jr. and give baby her diaper genie.
Party #2 at Damoomoo's cousin house - I spent sitting on the couch cutting more paper for the "gala affair".

Sunday
Practice - well I felt like I watched other people practice more than I did myself! but all the wait was worth it cuz we went to the Int'l Market and for dessert got my Nutella, Banana Crepe With whipped cream on top! YUMMY...

Monday
Gala Affair preparations... it took about 4 hours with a mini assembly line, but they are done... the invitations are DONE!! Now I have to work on the rest of the program...
Spent the rest of the evening cleaning the bathrooms, but ran out of Comet before I could finish our bathroom! But I did wash/dry/fold the blankets & sheets for AJ's class. Yes, my 1 hour a week parent volunteer/lab time!!

Mio took a very late night which left him tossing and turning all night long... I came to work on Tuesday 1 hour late!!!

another long weekend...

that wasn't long enough! Working for a school, we actually had Friday off in honor of Honest Abe's birthday. Then we get this coming Monday off too!! yippeee... I can't wait...

Well as Ms.Luzon wrote, we had our BADM performance on Sunday morning. An 11 am show, meant a 9am call time...and for us from the double V.... meant a 6am wake up call! And we were still late cuz we took the wrong exit, and nothing from our directions matched!!

I loved the performance besides the little mishaps during fan, but most of all because of the lack of Barrio costumes... I didn't have to dance Binasuan!! Thank you costume team!! And of course we did the Corte Madear mall afterwards.

I guess it was my early Valentine's present. I bought brand new make-up. I've been getting reoccurring styes (sp?) that I concluded were from my old brushes, old make-up, and of course the old mascara. So, the solution --- buy new brushes, buy new make-up, buy new mascara! Thanks to my'moomoo for buying them for me. I decided to go with Stila this time. I really liked what the saleslady did with my make-up. It looked clean and fresh. But in ordinary me fashion, i have been unable to duplicate the look! That sucks!

On our way home, damoomoo treated himself to new work shirts and ties at Geoffrey Beene. The performance on a Sunday threw me off because it cancelled practice, so I still felt like it was Saturday!

Back to work...

FREAKY FRIDAY!

Monday, February 06, 2006
Okay, not so much the "out of body", switch souls, kind of Freaky Friday... but more of "just one of those unusual days".

I believe that this was the day when there was an accident on the Bridge at the beginning of the morning commute, closing off at least 3 lanes at one point. Thus causing the chain reaction for those travelling to the city.

Although the traffic didn't reach my parts, I actually arrived to work at 8am leaving me with "pimp" parking (the first space closest to my building). Because the small shortcut through the campus was blocked off the day before I decided to park my car, walk AJ across campus to his center, and walk back.

But within 2 1/2 hours after our morning started I get the pop-up message from Outlook with an email from my Boss about evacuating the building... it went a little something like this:
Everyone in the AA, H, LA, and SA Building must evacuate the building immediately. There is a gas leak caused by construction in the Library. Please proceed to the far ends of the campus... Do not turn on your cars....

Yes, most people still mulled around like normal until a few people, including myself urged folks to get out of class/office and evacuate! The area where we were instructed to proceed ended up getting most of the fumes due to a change in the wind. So we had to evacuate even further.

I left with only my cell phone... not even thinking about getting my purse. I called damoomoo and informed him of what was happening. I asked for him to contact AJ's school and find out their situation, and to make plans to come pick us up because my car keys were in my purse and access to my car was blocked by the fire trucks!

My morning was filled with herding students and staff through the areas. Standing in the middle of the street informing students/visitors that the campus was closed due to a gas leak. Not sure whether or not it was closed for the day... MVP and I made plans to eat lunch and hung out until we could access our cars.

We ended up at Fairfield mall... until about 5pm when Damoomoo got out of work and able to drive us back to campus for our cars... I still had to find a way back into my building to get my purse... luckily one door was unlocked and the alarms weren't set yet!

Whew what a day!

What the POX?!

Thursday, February 02, 2006
This week has been really crazy, even for us! Last week I went from back problems (with Motrin & Vicodin to help ease the pain), to the flu, to a Chicken Pox scare!

Yes, you read that right. Monday night was our first errand night in awhile since I was stuck at home! We were at In & Out Burger having dinner, when I noticed 4 red "pimples" on Mio's face. I kept looking at them and wondered to myself if it really was CP.

A couple more errands later, we finally came home, and it was time to for "plop a sinko" (AKA bath time & don't ask where that came from, the boys made that one up themselves). As I was changing Mio I noticed more bumps on his groin/leg area!! Great... this is Chick Pox!!

Problem #1: Mio is contagious and cannot be around Nana due to low immune system and the babysitter because of the other kids.

Problem #2: Eventually Kuya will most likely contract it and I'll have to take even more time off from work.

Problem #3: Damoomoo has never had the chicken pox before! So I will have to go through this all by myself!!

A simple yet complex plan was devised that involved Lolo taking sick leave, staying at our house so I can go to work, Damoomoo possibly staying at his parents house to assist with driving Nana to her appointments, and my mom taking time off on Friday. And that was just for the rest of this week!

But I still took Tuesday off to call the Advice Nurse and closely watch the "outbreak". But it never happened. It turned out that there are skin rashes and allergic reactions that appear like Chicken Pox!! And guess what... we will be ready for the real thing now!
