Terrible 2's

Tuesday, March 29, 2005
I'm not talking about the age, but just having 2 toddler boys very close in age! Oh boy! I tell you it's a challenge. They both have their own mind, and their own temperments, AND the willngess to NOT share! I buy two of everything, but it still doesn't work.

AJ is going through the Blue Power Rangers stage, which means that everything he has must be BLUE, and every shirt he wears must be Power Rangers. And if his shirt is Blue Power Ranger, he must not take it off. My solution: Buy 2 of the same t-shirts!

Mio, well he is adjusting quite well to the bottle weaning. AJ has been pretty good at it until my mom gave them a bottle yesterday! Now, AJ asks for the bottle like "mama". Thanks mom! Well, back to Mio. He has managed to become the tornado to hit the living room, play room, and computer room all in one hour! He just manages to do so much damage. Just now, as I write, he pulled out a VHS tape, the actual tape part, ripped a piece off, and I found it in his mouth! AIYAH!

But there is always a cute side... the side you can't help but kiss and pinch all day. For AJ he is just so cute... the conversations and stories he will tell you, and the fact that he can say, "I love you, Mommy". For Mio, it's the "pretty eyes" and facial expressions that are made when he tries to talk or "blow your candle". His cheeks are just so irresistable. I will try to post pictures!

Farewell!

Sunday, March 27, 2005
Thursday was my last day as a Comet! I said my farewells to all my great co-workers, and really nice flowers. I hope they stay alive long enough for me to plant them in "my yard"!!

It was hard, as my co-workers became friends, and a huge encouragement. The biggest boost came from Capt and Commander who told me that me leaving was a big loss, but fully understood why I had to leave. At this time, could not offer me much in terms of money or benefits. However, somewhere down the line he hopes that they can offer me something else, better and bigger, "cuz you are qualified to do much more!" Wow, that felt really nice, especially after going through my "I am not skilled or educated enough for anything in the job market" phase.

AJ even had his own farewell. One of the volunteers had her work donate 6 balls of dough, and his class made cheese pizzas. They made a map of CA to show where AJ is moving, and at the parent meeting his teachers presented me with a scrapbook w/ all his classmates' hand prints, and a photo album showing AJ in all his active play! I have to admit, that made me cry.

Well now, it's time to transition into 2 different chapters in our lives: 1) A new job which begins on April 4th and 2)a new home. We are scheduled to sign our papers on Monday. When I called to set up our utilities, the owners had all of their utilities cut by this weekend! They are ready to leave, too! They sold us their refrigeration, washer/dryer, and left an L-shaped desk in the den! WOW, that saved us the hassle and money.

Yesterday we shopped and found a couch/chez lounge, and a master bedroom set (king-size of course). Now, all we have to buy is the kids bed and storage holder stuff at Ikea. I can't wait!!

Catch up time! Warning lots of stuff to cover!

5 year plan
I think it was about 3 weeks ago that I had the IUD inserted. This time I made sure I called on the first day of my cycle, and get my appointment immediately. It worked out so that I had enough time to take AJ to school and then back over to appointment. Extra driving, yes, but less pressure.

The "consultation" took longer than it did to insert the small piece. Foreign object in my body, yes, but I don't have to worry about "taking a pill" every day, which is the way I got preggers with AJ! Painful, only at the time of insertion. I normally do not get menstrual cramps, so the cramps I felt that day were horrible. I was so out of it the whole day, and even had Damoomoo take care of things at home in the evening. I laid in bed in the fetal position due to the cramps.

So now, we have at least 5 years til we try for a Gabriella! Or earlier if we decide to, but that is very doubtful.

Car Repair Sucks!

Tuesday, March 22, 2005
Friday morning on my way to work, I heard a weird sound coming from my car. I began to accelerate and turn from the exit, and it got louder. I stopped at a light, and again as I was accelerating and turning, the noise!

I immediately called Damoomoo and told him something sounds funny. I can't describe it, but it is not normal! He told me to take to the shop. He actually had me talk to his co-worker who moonlights as a car mechanic. They told me that if it's the brakes don't have them work on it. He can do all that for half the price. But if they diagnose it as something different, then have them work on it.

So I slowly, in the rain, drive it to the dealership near my work. With Damoomoo's request to rotate the tires, and being only 3,000 miles away from our 60,000 mile tune-up, I agree to have that done. It took care of the oil change that was long overdue, and cut out another cost for labor. The guy charged me another $100 because he had to do some service related to the fuel injection, and had to charge extra because I have never used their Service before! Oh you suck, because I was told that Toyota had a system that you can take your car anywhere!

I just needed to get to work, Damoomoo wasn't picking up his phone, so I just said Fine! In the end I charged $560! I bought $54 worth of parts (brakes) so Mr.Goodwrench could fix. Damoomoo and him made this whole arrangement/schedule of how to get it all done the next day!

So that leads to my Saturday! Woke up earlier than normal. Got the kids their breakfast and Saturday morning cartoons. Gathered them up and off to Mr. Goodwrench's house. We took 2 cars. My car, Morpheus, got worked on, front tires taken off to get to the brakes and rotors. I took Mio and went shopping for his party. Picked up the guys and went on a hunt to find a place to resurface the rotors.

Okay, I will stop at that because I don't understand much about cars.. the moral of this story... take care of your car!

Transition Time

Tuesday, March 15, 2005
It now starting to hit me that I will be leaving the Comets. AJ's school has this whole big Farewell party planned for him on his last day. Students are finding out little by little that I will not be here when they return from Spring Break.

I have students that are preparing to transfer, and have been "my students" since I first arrived. They will be the most difficult to say farewell to. They grow on you!

As far as the house move... haven't done a single thing. I want to be able to pack our clothes just in time to move. Everything else, is quite secondary. We need to buy a new bed for our bedroom (preferably a king size), a work table for the den, refrigerator, washer/dryer, and a new TV for the Family room. So much to purchase with very little money to spare... Thank goodness for that Ikea discount...(hook ups are awesome!!)

MIO is turning 2!
My baby is officially a toddler next Monday. My monster is celebrating his second birthday! AWWWW, I still remember the painful contractions that lasted a week! He got a new haircut care of Mama Tess, and he looks like a boy (versus looking like a baby!)

Monster Incs. (as AJ would say)
Friday nite I skipped out on teaching to take the family to watch Disney on Ice. Damoomoo hooked us up with a suite, and we had invited friends/family to join us. It was a party up in there! The great thing about the suite is that the kids can just walk around, sit where they like, and the parents hang out and eat/drink!! We have our bathroom, sink area, mini fridge, and small lounge area! Awesome. Oh and the show was cool too!

Counting down... 8 more days til I'm outta here!

Mellow

Friday, March 11, 2005
I am not sure if I ever wrote about this, but AJ has absolutely fallen in love with the 1 of the class hamsters. Last weekend we took Mellow home. This is the first pet I have ever taken care since my dad made me get rid of my parakeet when I was 7.

I was really nervous, but the teachers assured me that all I needed to do was make sure he has food and water. Easy enough..

Yesterday, as I was dropping AJ off at school, Ms. Nikki said that AJ has become really protective of Mellow. He tells the other kids to "not play with the wheel", "don't touch, just look"! And claims Mellow as his own. Once again, we are volunteered to take him home again this weekend!

Now that he is leaving, I wonder if that means we have to buy our own "mellow".?

This Comet is moving on...

The verdict is in... in three weeks, I will be a Hornet!

After I got back into work from my Yoga/Walking classes, I see an email from Damoomoo. The Hornet HR person called. I immediately returned the phone call, and sure enough. We would like to offer you the position... I don't quite remember the rest, cuz I was so happy. I even had to tell Hornet HR that I need to digest all this and possibly call tomorrow.

First thing's first.. gotta tell my bosses. Everyone had been expecting it, so it wasn't much of a shock, since they were the ones who were called during the reference checks. Ms. C knew the moment she saw me walking down the hallway!

It is a bittersweet time, but I have to look at all this as my angels above looking over me and my family!!

So much more to tell, but now I am REALLY under crunch time to "close" everything up...

Thank you to all the Comets who have become my friends and support while I was here... and to those who provided professional guidance to make me the reliable and knowledgeable employee I am, and hope the Hornets will come to love!!!

PEACE OUT!

Waiting sucks.

Tuesday, March 01, 2005
So reference checks had started. Unfortunately, I haven't heard anything yet. I feel bad for my boss cuz I know she has "mixed feelings" about this job. She has been really great and supportive since I started. But now, I am just waiting, and this waiting sucks, because I don't know what to do about childcare. We are moving in April, so I know the best thing to do would be to find something closer to home, but if I could also find something close to work, I won't have to worry about Damoomoo working after work!

Well, I am facing a major deadline, and this is MY busy season at work. So less blogging, and more working for me!

Catch ya later!
