My conversations with God's gift...

My Son!!

I went upstairs a little early last night to put Mio to sleep. Turned off all the lights and popped in the movie, "Miracle". As soon as the first cut from the hockey team tryouts started to play, I hear, "Mommy, 'ere are you?. Mommy?!" and soon enough the door bursts open with my little man walking through the dark.

Whatchya doin? Watching. Mio sweeping?

Yes, he is. I am watching Miracle. Hockey.

Oh, hockey! I lay down with you mommy.

Why don't lay down next to Mio?

No. [then he climbs up on the bed and lay right on top of me] I want to lay down wid mommy.

This lasts for no more than a minute.

Where's daddy? downstairs? [as soon as he asks he is climbing down] I go downstairs, okay?

Okay. Tell daddy I am still Mio to sleep.

Okay. Mio is sweepin. and you watching hockey.

Yes. Be careful, and turn on the light.

He looks, and points to the wall , no not that one, I tell him. I point to the hallway, and he walks to the bedroom across the hallway. I follow and point him to the light switch in hallway. He turns it himself, and says:

Oh... the light in hallway! Okay, I go downstairs to daddy. You lay down wid Mio. You watching hockey? Okay. Goodnight! he walks back up the 4 steps he walked down, and give me a kiss good night.

Good night. I love you AJ

I love you to mommy... and he slowly walks down the stairs and I hear his footsteps leading to the room where he finds daddy...

Daddy, 'ere are you? Daddy!!!

*Okay, so my conversations with my lil man are that deep, but as I went to lay down next to my bunso I remembered all their firsts: steps, rolling over, haircut, crawling, buying their first shoes... And as fun as that was... nothing beats the conversations I have as they grow older...

I can't wait until Mio and I will be able to communicate in the same language!! His audiology appointment is in two weeks.

I'll write later about my first class... interesting... but exciting!

Back to School!

I haven't had a chance to do much at work... except help students register for classes. Come on people, it's a computer!!! Read the instructions carefully and then ask me NICELY for help. Do not demand the help. I enjoy helping those "older" students who have never used a computer, but the young ones, who come to college without a pen/pencil demanding every little bit of help...practically holding their hands!!! Oh, and register early cuz then you will NOT find open classes, duh?!

So for two weeks straight I would put my work aside, and deal with these students. Now, that school has started students and faculty are back and taking all the parking!! Halls are filled with students (and gets pretty musty by lunchtime!). It's good to see the campus come back to life, but now I am so behind on my work, I don't know what to do... so I blog... hehehee

Girls Night Out
MnM was in town for bit, and we were able to have dinner together. It was nice to see the girls all at one time, and laugh about things in our life good and bad. After all that's what friends all do. It was shorter than our regular dinners, but it was nice. Can't explain, but I drove home realizing how long it had been since we had one of those. And for me, there wasn't anything to hold back or feeling like I had to watch what I say... Maybe joked around a little too much on MnM's "instant-family", but I didn't know any other way to make the conversation so heavy!

Thanks to the Ninangs for a great night, and I hope we can do it again soon!

Likha
I feel like my weekends are filled with all likha, all the time! two weekends ago was Pistahan, Filipino American Art Expo in the City. A small group participated in the parade, and another group that performed. Luckily, I was the group to perform!! Because of that event, we moved practice for that weekend to a Saturday! It was weird, and lots of people didn't show up!

Then this past weekend I attended the staff meeting, and then practice on Sunday, with costume distribution prior. Then this coming weekend. Practice in the studio on Saturday and practice again at a theater on Sunday... all dress rehearsals!!! Labor Day weekend... SHOWTIME!!

Do i feel ready, no... am i nervous... yes... especially when I tried on some of my costumes...
Gotta drink that "Slimfast"...

Baby Update
Still waiting for an opening at the daycare at my work. AJ still insists on taking Mio with him to his current day. In fact this morning, he wanted to stay home with Mio, and started to throw a fit!! I really have to take him in his sleep!

Mio continues to bump his head, fall down, trip over things, even his own feet!! I am getting really close to getting him that helmet!

DaMoomoo just bought another camera to replace the one AJ broke. So pretty soon you'll be able to see my babies live!!! yippeee... as soon as i learn to download and blah blah with the computer!

My Civic Duty

Wednesday, August 11, 2004
Yup, got summoned for JURY DUTY. In my 30 year lifetime this is the third time I have been called. not too bad. The first time after our group checked in and was excused right away because the case had been postponed. The second time I had to wait about 2 hours before they excused everyone because they were not going to do jury selection. But I got to talk to my high school friends mom while waiting! This time, I checked in, waited, and got to sit in the jury box!! Got asked all the general questions, and asked to clarify my experience in claim I filed for unlawful termination against OACC back in 2001. Then as the process continued and the attorneys went through there selection, I was the 3rd person to be excused by the Defense Attorney! Oh well... but at least I showed up!

Went home to eat my Church's chicken meal, and ended up staying at home... actually, took the kiddies to hang out with Mama Tess at the WC Plaza... it was way too hot, so we went home. My original plan was to try and find DaMoomoo's birthday present (oh yeah, I decided to change brahma's name to DaMoomoo!) . You know after 4 different stores, nothing cried out buy me for DaMoomoo!!! So I left empty-handed! Any suggestions? No freaky toys please, don't need to plan for #3!!! heheheee

One of my cousins who just graduated high school will be leaving for Marines training in early September!!! Don't know what he is thinking! So, his sister threw a going away/birthday party for her, too BBQ in South City... cold, but fun. Actually I didn't even make it to the park cuz of practice, but still got to eat some food at the house!!! yummy to my tummy!

Then we were watching old videos that one of our uncles put onto DVD's of our huge family reunion we had in '88 and Christmas later that year! Talk about awful hairdo's and clothes. The 80's were one messed up decade for fashion! But flourescent is back in, right? It was nice and sad to see the ones who had passed. My nanay was crying seeing footage of our tatay who passed in '93. And cried watching how our whole family was once so close. In the last few years events have happened that caused some of us to stop talking. Recently, I have noticed the toll that it has taken on our Nanay. Unfortunately, I am not going to force either party to make the first step, but for those who are wrong, really need to understand that an apology is in order. This is one of those things that time will not just heel and make it okay. Really hurtful things were said and done that the right thing to do is say sorry! We shall see!

Baby Update:
Mio hit a big one yesterday. He fell and bumped his head on something and has a big old bukol on top of his right eye. Now he looks like Rocky after he gets beat up in a match! He also fell and hit the other side on some pole that DaMoomoo left in the van! Lolo says we need to put a helmet on him! I concur, but that's a little overboard!

Potty training is working really well with AJ. He is been running himself to the potty at the babysitter!! Yipppeee for him! If i can only get him to stand up!

That's it for now.

Night o' Fun

Thursday, August 05, 2004
So we came, mingled, and suffered the next day!!! J/k
Brahma and I hung out Vegas and uncle BD to attend Weekender's birthday party. It was fun to be out, and actually ran into a few V-town old school friends (who found babysitters, too!) I enjoyed hanging out with my friends from State, although I have to admit that names have slipped my mind!!!

My conversations were the same...
Mighty Mom: "hey, there stranger!"
Friends: "Wow, you made it out! Long time no see, how are things?"
MM: Oh, you know, same old stuff [being a mom and wife], and you?
Friends: same... work blah blah blah..

Then there were these fun conversations!!!
MM: Hey, you have seen my kids lately!
Friends: [with guilt] I know, I'm sorry
MM: thanks a lot uncle (all my 5 girlfriends have seen my kids!!) hehehee
Friends: Yeah, I know... We'll hook up soon...

We shall see!!!

Potty Training success
So far, so good, when we're at home. My next challenge will be to do potty training outside the house. The babysitter is hesitant in leaving him in underwear, so that makes it a little hard to see how well he is doing.

Hearing Test
I got the appointment for Mio to see an audiologist in early September. Ever since I told family that he is seeing one, everyone has been showing me how well he talks, but he IS a little behind, and that's all we are checking on. Better sooner than later, right?

I'm enrolled
Okay so I couldn't get into Hayward State right away... I didn't do too well in my math class at State back in the day. So, CSUH denied me!! Well, CCC, here I come taking your statistics class! I am scared! I took a peek at the book...AGGGHHHH! Then I took another step and enrolled in Aerobic Dance... in hopes of giving my metabolism a little boost!

My goal by the end of Winter Break... become a CSUH student weighing in at 115 pounds and a size 6 waist!!! whheww... let's start praying, big time!!! light those candles and say the rosary!!!
