it's been pretty cold at home, so we are trying really hard to prevent another cold! so far so good, but still...KNOCK ON WOOD. i started to work part time in the afternoon. i don't think i am really ready to go back into the work force, even if it is only 4 hours a day. i never want to leave my baby! but you can bet that there are pictures in the office, well there will be more once i can fix up my office space! at least with the sleeping pattern baby has for now, i can wake up around 10, clean, and still enjoy my coffee and biscotti while watching Y & R! (looks like nick and sharon are hitting some rocky times right about now, but i guess that would be a different website, right?!)

i don't know if i ever mentioned this but being a mom, or even just watching kids, you tend to pick up the unusual talent of picking things up with your feet... you know how it is...you know you used to just pinch people with your toes...well now i just use my toes to pick things up from the ground so i don't even have to bend down!

isn't it amazing how fast a baby's nail will grow?! i just cut his nails about 3 days ago. the next morning he woke up with scratches on his nose and forehead! then i look at his nails today and they are long (at least you could already see a decent amount of white nail now). too bad his hair doesn't grow as fast! daddy and i both think that his hair is now growing in rows...no, not the corn rows, but a row going around his head horizontally, like the equator. well hopefully it will start to grow as he get older.

i am now convinced that we wasted 200 bucks on his crib. baby refuses to sleep more than an 1 hour in his crib. you think he really senses us? i wonder if he can really tell when i am sleeping next to him or not. but either way, he doesn't sleep in his crib! so i am the lucky one who gets to sleep sideways in order to make room for daddy and baby, and have surround sound snoring! you gotta love being the mom!

well, valentines is coming up... hopefully daddy and i will be able to make some plans for quality time! and i mean dinner (prime rib is always a winner!)...so get your minds out of the bedroom!! baby will not be a "kuya" for another 2 years at least!

there are times i would just sit and think to myself how lucky i am to have my husband and child. those times actually end up during the 5am feedings and i can't go back to sleep because both are snoring into my ears! believe or not but my 2 1/2 month old son can snore louder than my hubby!! it's actually quite funny.

BABY UPDATE: last sunday, even though they lost, baby was wearing his first 49-er outfit..looking quite cute i might add. he is more playful, and can enjoy the dangling toys of his connected to the play mat. he is getting ticklish on his feet and underarm. i swear i am having complete conversations with him also. i even think they last longer than some of the conversations i have with hubby! son is starting to really hold up his head even when he is laying on his stomach. we even try sitting him up on his own. if he is leaning on pillow he can do it! mom will be starting work after MLK, so i will have to get used to the "real world" again. i need to snap back into adult conversation! i wonder if i will suffer from separation anxiety now?! you can bet i am putting a lot of pictures of him together to put on my desk, and maybe at least one of my husband?!

took the baby out with us yesterday for a day of shopping. daddy bought us new kicks... yes baby has a pair of the black pleather jordan hi-tops! and a matching jacket!!! this boy will definitely be sporting it, so watch out!!

i went out with my girlz for the first since i gave birth. i must say it was a relief to feel like a woman again, especially when we were looking out for the firemen!!! it was the best to just hang out again, without baby or hubby with me. i was beginning to really feel like a housewife... and i am not even thirty yet! first a girlz day out, then a new makeover, and pretty soon... i will try and face the clubbing scene again!! well, maybe after i get rid of the maternity pouch!

FINALLY, THE DAD HAS COME BACK TO THE BABY BLOG!!! Man that kid loves to stay up in the middle of the night! Wooo! Last nite he decided to wake up at 12:30, 2:30, and I think 5:00 or 6:00, who knows. He takes bottle after bottle after bottle and after you burp him he just chills. Won't cry, won't sleep, just chills. Which is okay except that if you put him down, oh boy. The face starts frowning and the huffing and puffing begins. Don't get me wrong, I love holding my child but now my wife has tendinitis and my back has been killing me. The swing works sometimes but not all the time. The worst is when he can't breathe properly because of his sipon. He hates the bulb that we stick in his nose. Hates it. But I've found a new way to resolve that issue. Bear in mind, he's my son, my flesh and blood, of my loins so if this is a problem with you, wait till you have your own child and then criticize. You ready? Okay, I place my mouth over his nose... and I suck out the sipon!! It works! I get a good enough trail of sipon that I can pull the rest of it out. He doesn't fight as much as he does with the bulb, in fact he fights the bulb so much that you end up almost jabbing him.

BABY UPDATE: well, according to ninang curlz he has a lot more head/neck movement & control. i can vouch for that whenever he knocks me in the chin while trying to burp! we took him to the mall for the millionth time, but this time he decided he to throw up all over my shirt. i must say that it was great excuse to buy a new shirt! Although it was quite traumatic for me (cuz it happened while we were eating at Cinnabon), it was also a sign of relief. He has been sick/stuffy since christmas, so the contents of his throw up was full of mucus. i know that is probably what you don't want to hear, but it's all a part of babyhood!

Since he has sick all this time i keep bugging DAD about the possibility of an ear infection. and i mean "bugging" him in the "over reactive, can't relax, won't give up until i see a doctor, call kaiser's advice line" bugging! but the funny thing is...i don't want to be the one to call! the baby is fine for the most part except for the occasional coughing spell and stuffy nose. However, he still decides to sleep at 1:30am or later, and have his dad be the one to put him to sleep! Last night we tried to put him to sleep early (11:00pm) but he still woke up at 1:30. since dad stayed up with him all this weekend, and has work the next morning, i tried to put him back to sleep. That was my first mistake. I tried feeding him, giving him a pacifier, walking him into the living room, kitchen, and even the bathroom, but he just kept on wailing! Finally i woke Dad, and the moment he started to rock him in his arms... Boom..SLEEP! I guess a mother's comfort can only last for long! I wonder if he is beginning a routine or really has a sense of who is comfortable with?

Well, January is also the month i told myself i would start to look for a job. and thankfully, a job found me... the weird part is that i have to start the day after MLK holiday! i think it was a little sooner than i thought... also, not as much pay as i hoped for. However, it will be really close to home, hours are only 3-7 pm, gives me some flexibility with the baby, and i will be emerged in the community again! i already miss my baby though! speaking of baby..he is up from his afternoon nap...so, i gotta run!

HAPPY 2002! Well this "mighty" family rung in the new year snug at home...in fact we just made the actual count down for the west coast!! New year's day was more hectic... we are now starting an annual tradition of hosting a new year's day brunch! just to feed those who need some comfort food to counter all the drinking they did the night before, or to have a reason to go out if they stayed home like we did. so once again baby was the attention grabber for the day! I think by next year he will be able to appreciate these holidays a little more.

Well, his 13-pound body has finally take a toll on mighty mom! docs have told me i have tendonitis (sp?) in both my wrists, and currently have them in a splint-brace. it is not that cool looking like forrest gump! actually it has made caring for the baby (and typing) pretty difficult. Hopefully after icing, drugs, and brace are done for 10 days it will get better---otherwise it's injection time!

dad and i have now returned to dancing, and today was our first official practice since the baby was born...i am really out of shape!!! so to help us get in touch with the fitness guru...we have borrowed TAE-BO! i'll let you know if it actually works!

Baby is becoming more and more attracted to TV... I guess i better stop watching my soap operas, and tune into Elmo's World and Blue's Clues... At least one of his god-mothers gave me a tape of lullabies (it will also save baby from my voice!) With the new year...i also have to get back to being employed! I am not looking forward to actually working, and especially leaving my baby with someone else! maybe that's why i am really trying to lag on this thing... Unfortunately we don't have it like that. we have to start preparing for his baptism, another trip to the homeland, a new car with 4 doors (preferably a wagon), and eventually a house! boy that's a lot to ask for with only one real paycheck!!! well, i am just glad that my family has a decent roof over their heads, food, and good health.

okay gotta check out for now...typing is not helping my wrists!
