Well the month of December is full of his "firsts". Every morning, as tired as I am, I get to be witness to Andres' first smile. It's amazing how that smile can make you forget the sleepless night you just had with him! His smiles are accompanied with little coos and ahhhs ( I swear I hear "mom" said every now and then!). He is also playing with toys that rattle and follows them with eyes. He is gaining a little more control over his hands. He isn't just hitting himself in the forehead. We also started to keep his mittens off, so you can watch him try to hold the bottle (or breast---whichever is giving him food!), rub his eyes, hold his head, etc.
Baby's First Christmas! it was quite a challenge... just as i thought i could sleep through the night...He starts to stay up at 4:30 am and start his day! So, needless to say mom and dad had a very late start on their day. Our plan was to drive to Monterey, Pacifica, and Sunnyvale to visit family. Well, two out of three isn't bad! Monterey will just have to wait (sorry grandpa!) My dad finally saw the baby for the first time just before the holiday... It's fun to see a grandparent's first reaction to their new grandchild. I still think my dad is in denial! Anyways, Andres was the star of the show at both parties! We only made it through the door and everyone was hovering over the baby! I can't blame them... I really do believe I have the cutest baby...I think it's his cheeks! He received some of the coolest gifts from families, friends and godparents ---- THANKS! (He even received his first pair of tennis shoes to match mom and dad!) Andres has a full wardrobe til he's one! You have to see the pictures we took in his two christmas outfits!
His two month birthday marked his first shots since birth. As the parent who is scared of needles, I don't think I should be the one to take him! Once I found out he was getting five shots (1 in the arm, 2 in the left thigh, 2 in the right thigh), I almost cried! Then i saw all the needles.... from the first poke in his arm he was wailing! Thank goodness Lolo was there to calm us both down! With just a little Tylenol he was okay...just a slight fever broke out but he came out fine!
On Friday, despite the rain, we took him to his first Warrior game...okay, the game really sucked, but he got his first basketball, and mom got to eat garlic fries! He had his eyes wide opened through most of the game, and fell asleep as the warrior defense started to crumble and the free throws were being missed! I guess he might just be a real sports fan just like his dad! He is sitting with dad watching the niner game! Now I really wonder what his first words will be?!
This new year may be the first of many we will spend at home...i am just thankful that my family is happy, and healthy....See you in the new year!
