Well the month of December is full of his "firsts". Every morning, as tired as I am, I get to be witness to Andres' first smile. It's amazing how that smile can make you forget the sleepless night you just had with him! His smiles are accompanied with little coos and ahhhs ( I swear I hear "mom" said every now and then!). He is also playing with toys that rattle and follows them with eyes. He is gaining a little more control over his hands. He isn't just hitting himself in the forehead. We also started to keep his mittens off, so you can watch him try to hold the bottle (or breast---whichever is giving him food!), rub his eyes, hold his head, etc.

Baby's First Christmas! it was quite a challenge... just as i thought i could sleep through the night...He starts to stay up at 4:30 am and start his day! So, needless to say mom and dad had a very late start on their day. Our plan was to drive to Monterey, Pacifica, and Sunnyvale to visit family. Well, two out of three isn't bad! Monterey will just have to wait (sorry grandpa!) My dad finally saw the baby for the first time just before the holiday... It's fun to see a grandparent's first reaction to their new grandchild. I still think my dad is in denial! Anyways, Andres was the star of the show at both parties! We only made it through the door and everyone was hovering over the baby! I can't blame them... I really do believe I have the cutest baby...I think it's his cheeks! He received some of the coolest gifts from families, friends and godparents ---- THANKS! (He even received his first pair of tennis shoes to match mom and dad!) Andres has a full wardrobe til he's one! You have to see the pictures we took in his two christmas outfits!

His two month birthday marked his first shots since birth. As the parent who is scared of needles, I don't think I should be the one to take him! Once I found out he was getting five shots (1 in the arm, 2 in the left thigh, 2 in the right thigh), I almost cried! Then i saw all the needles.... from the first poke in his arm he was wailing! Thank goodness Lolo was there to calm us both down! With just a little Tylenol he was okay...just a slight fever broke out but he came out fine!

On Friday, despite the rain, we took him to his first Warrior game...okay, the game really sucked, but he got his first basketball, and mom got to eat garlic fries! He had his eyes wide opened through most of the game, and fell asleep as the warrior defense started to crumble and the free throws were being missed! I guess he might just be a real sports fan just like his dad! He is sitting with dad watching the niner game! Now I really wonder what his first words will be?!

This new year may be the first of many we will spend at home...i am just thankful that my family is happy, and healthy....See you in the new year!

He is finally sleeping more through the night. Now that he is finally over the cold and cough we are able to put down in his own crib! Going thru his first illness was pretty tough. As a parent you feel helpless because there isn't much you can do except suction out the "stuff" in his nose (you know that blue bulb!) Now nothing is able to go near his nose without a protest. I guess it is uncomfortable getting something stuck up your nose a lot, but you will be amazed how much stuff a little nose like his can hold! If that wasn't enough... we had some pretty good surprises coming out of the other end!!! I can now say i have seen crap in all types of colors! He had it so bad that the diaper couldn't hold everything in. The next minute he has it running up his back and stomach! Within 2 hours we had changed him 3 times!!! And it's not fun trying to take that stuff off the clothes!

Andres was born just in time for his first holiday---Thanksgiving and Christmas. Needless to say, as if a newborn wasn't enough...trying to fit shopping hasn't been easy. Sorry everyone, but this year you won't even get a christmas card! I even took the baby out for a walk to raley's (as the fog started to roll in) just to get some christmas decorations for the apartment, including his first Christmas stocking. He has also taken his first professional picture at Picture People...(he is naked--not porn like!---in a christmas stocking and a santa hat) You can already see the rolls of fat in his arms! I wish i could daddy trained to take more pictures, or at least get me a camera so i can take it! I was the one sweating trying to keep him from crying during the pictures! Going out for the pictures was also a good excuse to get out of the house. My cousin's baby is only a month and a half older, so we want to try and keep them close as they grow. they took a picture together, and it looked like they were trying to talk to each other! I guess you have to see it!

As i continue to write my "blogs" just bear with me. As a first time mom i will get excited and nervous about the smallest thing. Have you ever told yourself that you do not want to be like your parent(s) when you get older? Well, you might want to bite your tongue next time...because you will be amazed how engrained some of that stuff can be!

Motherhood has proven to be the test of time. It was great having my mom with me for a month (i was able to get a full night's sleep!), but now that she has gone...I have once again trained myself to function on 4 hours (or less) of sleep...sort of like high school and college when i would cram for exams or essays!
Let me back track a little bit to the first time i saw my baby. Well, i had to see him sideways, since the docs were still putting my stomach back into place (i had an emergency c-section). Too bad they couldn't suction out the extra fat i gained during pregnancy! He was a healthy (a conehead), non-crying, 7lbs 6oz, 20 1/2 inches long, baby boy! When i first saw him, i was amazed knowing that all that grew inside my tummy! And people kept telling me how small i was! I saw the little hands & feet that punched & kicked me all those months!
Now, i look at him everyday for the past month and a half, and still get amazed at how fast he is growing. I can talk to him and get a smile. I can tickle his neck (as soon as i find it under chubby round face) and get a chuckle.
