DESTINATION: nameless tattoo parlor, del paso ave*
TRANSPORT: kaygee's love machine
WEATHER: 70's and sunny as fuck!
TUNES: late 90's r&b
the day has finally arrived. my bro and i are getting our new family crest tattooed onto our shoulders. "kung walang pamilya, wala din ako" when translated means "without my family, there is no me." this phrase encompasses the baybayin glyph "ka" which indigenous filipinos used as a symbol for strength and unity.

this is more than a middle aged attempt at rejuvenated youth in the form of pierced ink. rather, this is the start of a rite of passage. our descendents will have the opportunity to receive this same tattoo and design when they turn of age. the mark represents the importance of the family connection, our backbone.

it also looks cool as fuck.

during the process, i was pleased to find out that it didn't hurt as much as i anticipated. i had likened the pain to receiving an injection, except the pain was over and over and over and over again. the romanticized version of the pain manifested itself as a barrage of yellow jacket stings, happily attacking in unison in the same precise region of my arm. or even the pain of your mother pinching you in [church/synagogue/temple/what have you] on the [back of the arm/inner thigh/ear] when you were fuckin around and not payin' attention.

in reality, it wasn't as pretty or graphic to say the least.

now being the seasoned veteran of a tattoo that i am, i would have to say that the process was synonymous with the feeling of dragging a safety pin across your skin. not a paper clip, mind you, a safety fuckin pin. open. drawing blood. repeatedly. enduring the straight lines was murder, the words were somewhat painful, and filling in was tolerable. but in the end it was definitely worth it.

*sunshine, said to not say the name of the studio to protect the innoncent. me. haha

DESTINATION: Sacramento
TRANSPORT: sunshine's car, SWA Flight 209, kaygee's car
WEATHER: Seattle:45 Sacramento:65
TUNES: none

after a long goodbye with sunshine at seatac international, i board the plane that has way too many babies on it. i don't mind the babies, i do mind the parent that chose to change a babies diaper in the row behind me.

thanks for letting the smell of your child's shit waft through the compressed cabin air.

the flight was uneventful and i landed in sacto without a problem. kaygee picked me up at sac int'l and we headed back to glenrock.

it was kinda weird to be in sac again. after living there for the past 9 years, i was elated to be nostalgic at the site of 916's famous landmarks, arco arena, the tower theater and ucd med center. it was like seeing an old friend after a long absence.

DESTINATION: seattle
TRANSPORT: alaska airlines fuckin delayed asses
WEATHER: sunny and 65
it's surreal to be back in california. first thing i noticed was that everyone had the same license plate as me. kinda of nice. even though its socal. not too into socal, but last night, it was nice none the less. especially after being delayed at the fuckin airport for 4hrs last night. didn't leave the airport til 615. fuckin bastards. our flight was supposed 2 leave at 220pm. and all they gave us was a snack voucher for $6.00. better than nothing i guess. what was the delay all about?

leaky fuckin toilet.

aint that some bullshit?? after 40mins, they decided to bring us another plane, that wasn't set to take off until 430, then 5pm, then 530. we finally get on the plane to realize the captain is stuck in traffic. fuck

and then...

the captain lets us know, we're low on gas so we had 2 wait for the gas truck. but i'll give them that last one. i'd rather wait for a gas truck instead of crashing because our shit ran out of fuel.

so i'm here in the marriot at long beach. conference is done, everyone went home, i'm chillin here over night cuz alaska didn't have a flight after 5pm tonight. bastards.

kinda sucks 2 be in long beach and can't go anywhere. but things could be worse.

DESTINATION: airport
TRANSPORT: bus #194
WEATHER: cloudy but not too cold
TUNES: steely dan; black cow
today i'm ll cool j in the 1990's (goin back 2 cali). heading to the dove shack aka long beach, ca for a one day conference. it'll be weird flying over sac and the bay and not stopping. also it will take longer than the usual 1.5 hr flight from seattle to sac. i hear it's gonna be 70's down there. i can hardly wait.

so i'm chillin in sea-tac waiting for my flight. the airline rep just reported that our plane has a leaky toilet that needs to be fixed. half an hour delay. wtf. that's a first.

DESTINATION: home depot, then work
TRANSPORT: corolla
WEATHER: raining
TUNES: NPR news and some jazz shit
decided to drive today cuz i have a late meeting until 730pm. every time i drive, it's $10 for parking. that's why i take the bus. driving in the rain is much easier than walking through it to catch the bus. there is much convenience in it, however, i feel like i'm cheating myself when i drive. especially, when there's that $10 cover charge for my fuckin car. wack. brought in a framed map of the philippines that sunshine gave me for our anniversary (sha na na na). two of my favorite things manifested in one item, maps and the motherland.

that's why i moved up here dammit!

DESTINATION: home
TRANSPORT: bus #2
WEATHER: sprinkling and cold
TUNES: take me to the mardi gras; bob james
i left work early today to work at home and to get ready to play basketball tonight. if i leave work early enough, i can take a special #2 bus that picks me up right near my work. i usually can't do this because the #2 turns way earlier before my stop. however, for some reason, there's 2 busses that come by my work at 3:15 and 3:50. i love taking this bus. from my work to my front door. no transferring, no walking.

pure luxury.

anyway, nothing too exciting today, there was a plethora of homeless people on the bus today. one looked like a broke ass steven spielberg. weird. it must be hard to be homeless up here in the northwest just because it's hella cold. i guess it's worse to be homeless in chicago or nyc. then again i guess there are no degrees when it comes to not having a home to go to.

DESTINATION: work
TRANSPORT: bus #2, transfer to bus #23
WEATHER: cloudy, 50s
TUNES: nada, ipod died
i was late this morning, due to the fact that i was fuckin around lost track of time. took the late bus and in my hurry, forgot my lunch. i had packed leftover sinigang from last night (my best batch by the way, using fatty meat makes it taste better). and now it's sitting on the counter at my place. dammit. here are a few things i saw while walking to my transfer bus: 1) a bunch of pigeons devouring a leftover burrito; 2) a young ass girl smoking; 3) an old filipina lady wearing a hat that said "girl scout"
