THE HEALTHIEST THING
so maybe it's not
the healthiest thing
to sit here in a pile of
1. things to do &
2. people to help &
3. design jobs due
as i type to you
and wish that i
could see you soon
to witness your
beautiful brown eyes
peer into my soul
knowing that only you
are allowed in...

and maybe it's not
the healthiest thing
to think about you while i
1. do my thing &
2. help my people &
3. redesign my own job
as i type to you
and wish that i
could see you soon
and you could see
the weary
bitter eyes of mine

wishing i could
just run away
and make beats
on an island
with three cd's
& a shitload of electricty
and of course,

you & your prince CD

as i type to you
and wish that i
could see you soon
to witness your
beautiful brown eyes
peer into my soul
knowing that only you
are allowed in...

LOOSE ENDS
after a long day at work, i passed by the agency to drop some stuff off on my way home. my car makes it to the agency and i drop the supplies we used for our family strengthening group. i jump back in my car and it doesn't start.

"fuuuck..."

the initial thought started 2 sink in as i turned the key 2 more times to no avail. i queried the powers that be, why now, when i'm trapped alone at night in a lonely industrial area, when i just got the car fixed, when sunshine is comin down for a visit. i even tried to jump it with our APCC van. nothing doing.

so i called my boys at the A triple. tow truck came hour and a half later. i told the tow truck guy my drama and he tried 2 jump it. "hmm, that's interesting" he said as he tightened one of the battery terminals. "try starting your car now"

sure as shit... it started...

thank you god.

*shout out 2 the tow truck guy for not charging me for the call. i have one more tow left on my membership.

ROCKIN THE VOTE
ok so thursday i found myself at a rock the vote event at our local crest theater. jen2 had asked me to help pass out flyers for groundworks at this concert thingie. so i had 2 show improve. it was a local show that featured alot of the artists we work with in groundworks. for those of you who don't know what groundworks is, um.. i'll tell u bout it later...

anyway...

since it was a concert for charity we were allowed to ask patrons for their ticket stubs after entry. the gimmick was, "buy a ticket, give it to your favorite charity and they receive 5 bucks from your admission. cool huh...

so i tried my marketing pitches, and got a few people to kick down their tickets. i guess it didn't help that i was hungry because i was grubbin on my popcorn at one point while tryin 2 talk 2 people.

not professional.

i think god interevened when my popcorn "accidentally" spilled and i was forced 2 throw half of it away. fuck. so yeh i got back to biz. after i went home and made tacos.

THE MIGHTY LATE MOSDEF
rbdtwo coerced me (ok well not really "coerced") into going to the mosdef concert with her and the lizzo. i'm glad she did. it was a cool time and also had a chance to kick it with ms. showgirl herself with her busy schedule jetting back and forth from LA-LA land. addict merchants and crown city rockers were also on the bill. the impatient ass UCDavis spoiled brats were complaining about the late performance of mosdef. it wasn't even 11pm yet and they were chanting "refund."

please.

i think it was funny cuz it was a diverse crowd (read: a lot of college folk) and they're not used 2 the lateness of hiphop shows. personally, i hope to take advantage of the whole late performing thing in the near future. personally, i think it helps build anticipation. things are done on purpose in the music industry.

anyway... mosdef finally came on like around 11pm and rocked it til 1230, leaving and hour and a half for the afterparty snaykeyz was spinning at. parties in davis suck. always end early. i hope those people made their money, cuz i was not tryin to pay 8 bucks for a 1.5 hour afterparty. and that's WITH the ticket stub from the show. at least not a party in davis...

anyway... back 2 mosdef... his set was dope however his music was different that his usual shit. i like his new shit. stankpalmer let me hear mosdef's album ahead of time. it was definitely different. some nice mellow shit... but for a concert, i wasn't feelin' it. i think also the audio kinda sucked, the mics were garbled and hard 2 make out the words at some points.

i think mosdef was high as fuck while performing... talkin about boogeyman music, which is cool and all... but the music wasn't boogeyman scary at all.. hmm i wonder what he was talkin bout.. was it "boogeyman" or "boogieman" like "i can boogie" or was it boogey like "boogers" as if he was talkin about his nose treasures and how he likes to make music about snot.

(leave me alone, it's early in the morning)

anyway, show was tight, disappointed that surprise guest common turned out 2 be a rumor. that woulda been live. maybe he was at the 1.5hr after party. who knows...

shout out 2 rbdtwo and lizzo for my ticket...

PHLEGMBOYANT
ok so it's been a week now and i've been gracing the pavement with little yellow submarines. been sick for a few days and usually goes right to my lungs, thanks 2 my asthmatic nature.

i bought a bottle of the very best target tussin and sipped on the sizzurp for most of the week. i killed it today. i've never killed a bottle of tussin. i usually don't like 2 take medicine, but this coughing made me want 2 take medicine for the first time.

maybe i shall be forced 2 see the dirty bastards at kaiser. well not that they're dirty, but shiesty dirty when it comes 2 copayments and shit. so anyway, i think i'm at the end of the phlegm rainbow here. hopefully i'll be better by sunday.

the funny thing is that i never felt sick. just had the symptoms. i used 2 get sick really bad when i was out of shape, would have 2 sleep all day 2 fight shit. now i can go jogging still even if i'm sick. i dunno if that's recommended but hey, fuck it.

NADER SUPPORTED BY REPUBLICANS?
i may be late on this one, but the mestiza girl alerted me to the fact that nader is taking donations from republicans. i did some snooping and i found this... mind you it is from abc news...

nothing's sacred. but yeh interesting stuff.

i also thought that this part from the article and comment by camejo (nader's running mate) was funny...

"In a bit of a shift from last week's hesitation, Peter Camejo is now welcoming Republican contributions - few if any questions asked.

Camejo: "We have no way to know what the intent of money is."

um. yeh. minus 10 points for lack of perspective on the big picture. why would someone running against you give you money? only if it meant something good for them.

damn. all ya'll politicians are crooked like st ide's logos.

here's another liberal article here. i like the poll in this one. haha

SWING MY WAY...
after listening to the debates care of itunes (do a power search to get the debate for free), i've started to rethink my vote for this november. i don't know if i mentioned this or not, but i was planning to vote for ralph nader. i think it's time for a third party to get all up in this country. anyway, my thoughts on that are another blog. (**note: a big ass gasface 2 those who think a vote for nader is synonymous with "throwing your vote away" it's called plurality. wake up)

after reading the paper and watching what the candidates had to say for themselves, i may vote for kerry.

it's not like i want to, but man bush is just that bad of a candidate. hell, chaney would be better. at least he can act competent. i got weak when bush referred to terrorists as "a bunch of folks."

c'mon now. doesn't he have a team of advisors? fuck.

why do they let him look like an idiot? or is it too hard to conceal reality? do i actually have to vote to NOT let this joker get 4 more years in office?

i hear people that are pro-bush say that "he needs to finish what he started." using that rationale, would you want a doctor that fucked up on your open heart surgery to "finish what he started" or do you sit that fucker down and call in someone else? when the person cutting your hair fucks up, do you go back to the same place?

i dont' know about you, but that's not my prerogative.

and then don't get me started on kerry, this muthafucka started talkin about how he can get the rest of the world to back us up on iraq. talkin about how he can catch the terrorists etc...

this i gotta see... shiet...

i think kerry has the upperhand because he can say whatever the hell he wants and he don't have to proove it until after he's elected. but with bush, he has to face the music on the shit he fucked up on...

and during the debate, every time he was challenged by kerry, bush would simply retort by attacking kerry's wishy-washy stance on the war in iraq. same with kerry...

chaney pissed me off more when edwards was talkin about how the US is taking the 90% of the casualties in iraq, to which chaney replied "but what about all the iraqi people dying giving up their lives for freedom.."

muthafucka, YOU are the one killing them! for oil no less, u greedy fuck. they wouldn't have had to fight if we didn't invade.
and i know this is about power. keeping america the lone superpower in the world. which includes keeping the freedoms we have right now, and one which i am using right now, the freedom of speech.

and that people is the reason why terrorists hate us. because we do the same shit they do, we just have more money and bigger weapons. we are hypocrites.

but then again this is a free country. if you wish to vote for bush. go ahead. im thinkin' he might even win. why? well, because of my bold predictions which i will list below...

bold predictions
1. osama bin laden will be captured either sometime before election or sometime after bush gets inaugurated.

2. remember the threat thermometer thing? the orange, yellow, alert thingie? i predict something "big" may happen in our country, which triggers the alert system to rise.

i really hope these things don't happen. i don't want to be right, people. because that means i have to move to canada like i said previously... then again.. victoria b.c. is nice this time of year. and it's not that far from seattle

so anyway... let's see what happens. hopefully i don't see any shit like that above but if i do... i should really start lookin for jobs in canada.

oh and one more thing. isn't it great that i can talk shit about bush and not even have to worry about getting shot in the middle of the night or get dragged to my death by an angry mob? god bless the constitution of the united states.

we the people need all the help we can get right now.

MANIACAL MONDAY
it wasn't really crazy today, just thought i'd spice it up a bit. work was work today. i started off with a good workout this morning. trying to get back into it. i have 2 prepare for the cold months where i have bear-like tendencies with a decreased
desire to work out.

hence, i counter with proper habits.

i'm thinking of doing a half-marathon. just thinking... i'm at a point where i can prob jog 4-5 miles at best. nowhere near the shape i was 2 years ago, when i did the bay 2 breakers a few times.

i'm older and when you get older, your joints don't work the same... my knees are the culprits this time. 5 years ago, my ankles were weak like jell-o. thank basketball for those injuries. that and i don't run like i used to. anyway, there's a las vegas marathon in january. i dunno if i can get ready for 13 miles of knee smashing fun in three months. maybe i'll do a summer one instead. we'll see. hopefully i can get to six miles by mid-november.

i know for sure i'm gonna do the bay to breakers.

today i did 4 miles but i stopped quite a bit during the last mile. i did do better than yesterday, where i jogged four miles outside. something about pounding on concrete is no longer appealling even though i do enjoy the scenery moreso than i do staring at old ladies with blue hair at the gym i go to (i go early in the morning).

for now i'll stick to just being happy getting out of bed and jogging each morning. consistently...

FOR YOU
through cloudy skies
i break through
searching for the one
that moved me
driven by your words
that pierced my soul
indelibly
i fly swiftly
like rainbows over urban skies
retracing my steps
over concrete pathways
then pain hits me from space,
like needles in my eye
when i realize,

i barely know you

but still,
without one word,
you made me feel like
we've talked since
the beginning of time,
i can't explain it
nor do i care to confine
myself to ruminations
of past conversations
with the beginnings of love intertwined
they left me empty
since we don't have the time
the location, the situation
hell, ain't nothin' on our damn side

love is complicated by design
yet here i am waiting for the next time
when i can drop a line
through cloudy skies
i break through
searching for you
and a place for my heart to reside

SPOTLESS MIND
few days back, i picked up my favorite movie of all time; eternal sunshine of the spotless mind. it has become my new all time favorite because of not only the content but also because of it's creativity and ingenuity in storytelling.

this is a movie i purposely watched TWICE in the theaters! that shit don't happen with me. i also couldn't wait for the dvd to be on sale at blockbuster like i usually do. i had 2 buy it when it came out. i watched it again and it was still good.

i think i like it because it came out at a time where i could really relate to the things going on in the film. i don't want to give it away, so in my gratuitious plugging of this movie, i will not reveal any of the plot. just watch it. and if it's confusing at first, don't worry about it, just keep watching. it's supposed 2 be all trippy at first.

ok enough plugging.

DISCONNECTED
i went out last night with a friend to watch a movie. shark tale sucks. don't watch it unless your kids hella want to watch it. don't watch it unless you're getting a free ticket from somewhere (we had free tix). we also went out to play pool after. that was fun. but yeh, i dunno. not really into doing much. today i will do bills and maybe sift through my music collection for samples. i need to replenish my sample arsenal for my beats.

i'm long overdue.

i thought it would be good to get back out there, u know. it was a long week and all, but i dunno, i wasn't feeling the whole thing. my mind is somewhere else right now. it should be in my head. that's where it should be.

i guess it's partially due to the fact that i'm worried about my car. my transmission is acting up (again). when i give it some gas, it jerks into gear. it jerks into reverse. when i stop my car. i don't even have to press on the break. it doesn't roll anywhere.

i had it looked at and my mechanic put in some treatment in the tranny fluid to increase compression 2 alleviate the jerkiness. it got a little better, but i still don't feel like i've done anything more than buy myself some more time.

sometimes i just wish things would go my way once in a while, instead of making things work, you know? oh well, thats' life for right now. not complaining. just throwin that out there.

today i went to a funeral for pnayology's father. he passed away suddenly last week. rest in peace. too many funerals this year.

TEMPTATION, THY NAME IS FRIED CHICKEN
on my way home from work, i paid my car insurance bill at AAA. i make it a point to gaffle a few maps (they're free to members) everytime i go there. it's my way of gettin back all the money i waste on insurance. this time i picked up a map of chicago and seattle.

yes, i am still talking about seattle. fuckin sue me.

anyway... on the way home, it was already bad enough that i was hungry, but i think i passed by a restaurant that was frying something because i got a good whiff of the fried goodness through the air vents in my car.

fuck.

almost instantly, i drove over to the raley's on the way home 2 cop some of their dastardly fried poultry. i checked the price... 8 bucks for legs and thighs, 10 bucks for regular. wtf. hella expensive for what i refer to as "2nd tier fried chicken" (any fried chicken from a grocery store)

so i think to myself, if i'm gonna spend that much, i might as well get some KFC.
kitchen fresh chicken huh guys? nice try kfc. ya'll shit is still unhealthy as fuck. anyway, i pull in front of the store and there it was in bold white letters, taunting me, daring me to step in and eat.

7 legs and thighs... $5.00!

holy shit. insanity. how do you justify charging 8 bucks for chicken that don't tast half as good as kfc? mind you, both are equally unhealthy, but man, i ain't paying more for shittier tasting chicken.

what the heck is the point of my blog today.

i have no idea. there's no point. i'm hungry as i write this. this is a garbage blog. let's redeem it by listing my top fast food fried chicken vendors of all time... (corporate chains only)

first tier
1. kfc- i don't know what 13 original herbs and spices the colonel used, but i think the fact that there are 13 is proof enough for me that evil is involved somehow.

2. church's chicken- i don't care if this chicken is garbage, it tastes good to me cuz i grew up with the shit. it's also cheap. good news. they have bullet proof glass in front of the registers in the vallejo church's! it's good to know corporate hq is thinking of their employees

3. pioneer chicken- this is some o.g. fried chicken. the one with the reddish batter. the batter was so thick that if you peeled it off, you would realize that they were actually frying quail instead of chicken.

second tier
4. foodmax fried chicken- i found out about this chicken from the kickin' with the poly's (short for polynesians) at the RISE program at Sac City College. I was doing my field study there, and everytime we would have a potluck, one of the tongan or samoan cats would bring in a 50 piece of chicken from foodmax. FIFTY piece, 5-0, fifty. damn, i have never seen so much chicken before at a party. WITHOUT leftovers, them poly's can eat boy!

5. albertson's fried chicken- this shit ain't bad, but it's cheapest out of the last 3 chicken places. it also tastes the same as safeway and raley's so i will not write anything for the last 2. i've already wasted enough of my lunch break.

6. safeway fried chicken- see above

7. raley's wack ass fried chicken- see above

note: i have never tried popeye's chicken! apologies to all the popeye's heads. it was always 2 far to go to popeye's in vallejo. i am also one of those types that roll the chicken in napkins before i eat it. you'll be amazed by how much grease comes out of that shit. nasty. but damn it still tastes good.
