i relived a few good memories with my brother today. i was looking at the local fry's electronics ad and saw "pee wee's big adventure" on sale for $6.99. i sent a text to my bro to let him know if he wanted me to pick it up for him. he said look for revenge of the nerds I and II as well.
then i tell him, "if we get weird science, we can get tv dinners and make forts with the couch." which of course was a reference to our childhood summers spent in front of the tv watching movies and making forts in the couch.
it was a nice way to relive the torturous summers where we were latchkey kids and weren't allowed to go outside the house.

was summoned to jury duty this week. i wasn't called but i was told to check a certain website to view the status. i checked every evening to see if i needed to go in the next morning. everyday except for last night. fuck.

yesterday i found out that i no longer can get funded for tutoring. i was tutoring at a local underserved high school through a workstudy program. the students i have been getting had extra issues on top of being behind in their school work. most of them were diagnosed with learning disabilities and i thought it was a good experience working in the school system and working with students with special needs. i also wanted to make sure they were getting diagnosed properly.
a lot of the time i was more a counselor and mentor than a tutor. these students really needed someone to just talk to on top of needing help with their school work. i had to do alot of advocating for these cats and had to educate school administrators on certain issues, including culture in one case. it's really sad to see how much resources schools don't have. especially when u see other schools that have more money and all the damn programs in the world. things just don't make sense sometimes but i guess u can't let that stop you.
i'm trying to figure out how to continue with my students. luckily the school year is almost over.

today i stayed home from work because i had phat allergy attacks today. i woke up sneezing and i didn't even leave the house yet. usually, it's ok inside the house and shitty indoors. in those rare days that my allergies are that bad, i am not goin anywhere. i stayed home the whole day, nose all itchy, eyes all swoll, lungs sore from sneezing. this was a pretty bad attack today. at least i got to do some stuff around the house. i cleaned up my room a little bit. my desk was full of junk. lo and behold as i was cleaning, i find 6 allegra pills.
there is a god.
so i take one and it takes a while to kick in. so i decide to just take the rest of the day off and work on my webpage. i think this will be the last design change for a while. i have to find somewhere to put the tagboard. dang.

played ball last night and am sore as heck. it's not cuz i balled but because i did push-ups that morning. talk about out of shape.
