Midwest News

I got my financial aid finally and have commenced to start making my house a home. My roomie Lo bought us a futon, TV and DVD player; we just hooked up internet plus home phone; and we just discovered this cool thing called FreeCycle. Most big cities have one. It's a mailing list built upon the fact that it's much better for your soul and for the energy in the world if you give things away that you don't need, especially if there are people who can use them. You can post messages either offering or wanting things, and if someone has it or needs it, there's a good likelihood you're wish will be granted.

I was able to get a full size box spring/mattress, bookshelf, dresser and end table. Of course there was a little bit of a drawback. The dresser is kinda blah, so I'll need to either paint it or strip the paint and then stain it. And the bookshelf was missing a shelf. And the mattress was so used that you could feel the metal bar in it. However, I plan on going to Home Depot for the missing shelf and went to overstock.com and got myself a memory foam cover for the bed.

Now all I need is a computer desk and wireless router, plus maybe some rabbit ears for the TV (gotta watch Heroes and NFL) and I think it'll be all set.

And for y'all, another pic of the beautiful French coast...
