WINE TASTING!

Being party of a wine club has it's perks, but not when they start charging you twice in one month for a shipment you have yet to receive. So, in the end they ended up comping me a ticket for an event called Toast of the Town. Awsome encouraged me to ask if I can get 2 tickets. Being me, I'm usually pretty shy about those things, unless I'm god awful drunk and all my inhibitions are out the door. So I asked him to draft up a letter asking for an extra ticket. Well low and behold it worked!!!

The event was to be held at the San Francisco War Memorial Opera House. There were over 100 vendors, including a variety of Wineries representing different parts of the world to a variety of restaurants serving various appetizers, soups and desserts. Well we thought it would be a good idea to go have something a little heavier in our stomachs so we wouldn't be totally wasted after the event. Afterall, we were driving back to Oakland.

I found a cute little bistro called Sauce off of Gough and Fell in the city. This place was really cute! Small and INTIMATE! And what I mean by intimate is that you can participate in the conversation next to you. You are that close that you can practically hear every word in the conversation. So if you know me, I have ADD. So I was trying extra hard to pay attention to Awsome. hee hee hee..

We decided to have appetizers, which consisted of a tomato bisque, mushroom fries and ahi tuna. They do serve you some bread before your meal comes which went really well w/ the bisque. It's almost like a toast, I wish I could remember what it was called. And the mushroom fries were made from portabello mushrooms. YUM! As we finished our meal, it was just right. We shared everything and definitely still had some room to try the appetizers at the Wine Tasting!

We were a little far, especially in heels, so we decided to more the car closer to the event. As we checked in, we were given free wine glasses and a goodie bag that had a listing of all the vendors and the different wines they were serving. This was great because then if we had tasted a wine that we liked, we could just note it down. As we walked through the building which consisted of 3 floors of vendors, it was really overwhelming. It was pretty fun to just people watch. There were folks who had glass holders around their necks! These were the serious ones. And then you saw ladies who were just chuggin their glasses and off to the next vendor. These were your party girls! And then the best one, were seeing vendors flirting w/ the ladies! And the ladies responding back w/ their giggles and tossing they're hair back.

Anyhow, this was a pretty cool experience because we were able to try a variety of wines from different parts of the world such as Australia, Africa and New Zealand to name a few. I would totally suggest going to a function like this, but make sure you eat so you don't end up being one of those folks stumbling all over the place.
