The Baby Blog

A blog of the days in the life of Mighty Mom as she goes about raising her sons...and saving the world while she's at it.

Grandpa

I know that this weekend was for mom's, but for me and my dad's family it was all about GRANDPA.

Saturday afternoon just as I was walking upstairs I received a call from my dad. He sounded strange so I knew something was up. My grandpa passed away while he was napping. In silence with no one around him to be worried or sad. It hit our family hard as they were also preparing for a big celebration for my uncle. I am glad my sons had the opportunity to meet their LOLO Keyopes, unfortunately we have never made it out there often enough beyond special occasions. Now more than ever I can still hear my grandpa's roaring laugh, and how talkative he becomes with just some "liquid courage"!! He is the king of keyopes' stubborn behavior, but will always remind me how much I was spoiled by my grandma before she passed.

I am consoled by the fact that he lived a VERY FULL LIFE, with a second chance at love when he remarried Ana, who also gave him 2 more sons. Yes, my grandpa still got his groove on at the age 70! But he is now with my grandma. I am not sure what will happen with house in Monterey, a house that I will always remember from childhood, or if visiting will ever be the same... but our family gatherings will not be the same without grandpa.

I love you grandpa...

Hi Laurie,

I heard about Grandpa Larry's peaceful passing yesterday. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the family. He lived a very full life and at the age of 94, he looked great. I remember all the times we had family gatherings in Monterey. I was actually thinking about him last week. We were all looking forward to seeing him this Friday at Lola Josie & Lolo Ed's 60th Wedding Anniversary. He is surely missed by all of us. Love you cousin!

xoxo

Laurie,
My condolences to you and your family. - I haven't returned your call because my Lolo passed away last week as well. I hope everything else is going well for you - happy belated Mother's Day.

Hello Laurie. I just read your blog - big hugs to you and the family. Times such as this is never easy, but from my experience, memories always seem to ease the pain...more hugs to you, girlie.
