Although this is old news..but might be new to others, I finally took LESSONS to SNOWBOARD!!! Yes...Awsome finally took me up to the snow this year. And yes there was snow up there..hahahahha...

If you guys have followed my experiences the past 5 years... I had tried back in 2003 WITHOUT lessons.. Big mistake! I was initially going to take lessons, but as some of you know, there are those who SWEAR they can teach you. I ended up wasting money on my rental and my lift ticket to sit and slide down the hill on my butt the whole afternoon and finally ended up at the lodge w/ 2 others waiting for the rest of our friends to be done w/ their runs...

Awsome did offer to teach me, but I insisted on an instructor. I especially did not want us to end up arguing, due to frustration on my part... So we wake up at around 3:30am to eat breakfast and drive up to Sierra. Low and behold Denny's isn't open yet...Ugh... they don't open till 4:30am?? What happened to 24 hours??? I guess not over in Emeryville. They finally let us in and we're grubbing away and we realize it's about 5:15am. We've gotta get up to Sierra by 9am for my lessons!!! Let alone it takes about 30 min. to park, change, rent and fit me up for my gear!!!

We make it to Sierra at about 8:30am. YES... Awsome was jammin. Since we were one of the very first ones up at the resort, I was hoping to end up having private lessons since this was the tail end of the season and it's been warm. Welp...that didn't happen... BUT I ended up having a very good instructor!!! It was soooooo exciting! Especially, when I finally was able to stand on the board and slide down a 2 inch slope. You may not think 2 inches is nothing...but it sure was for me and everyone else in our class. So the first 45 min. to an hour was learning some basic skills. The 2nd half consisted of applying those skills on the mountain and learning how to go from sitting on your butt to standing on your board on the hill.

I wasn't able to get off the lift with out falling, but I was able to go down the hill, of course perpendicular to the hill. I'm not ready to go straight down just yet. After my 2 hour lesson, I was already pooped and of course most of my fatigue was attributed to falling and learning how to get back up on the board again and goin down the hill. I met Awsome at the bottom of the hill and we grabbed some lunch and attempted one more run down the Easy Rider Express and Awsome went with me too! It took me roughly 45 minutes to get down the hill and I was done for the day. I wasn't going to push it. With my background, I knew that if I'm already tired, i'm prone to injurying myself. So am I going to snowboard next season? DEFINITELY with LESSONS of course!!!! Thank you Awsome for finally taking me!!!
