I MADE ADOBO!!!!! WOO HOO!!!!
Ok kids..I know I sound a little excited..but oh man..what a feeling it is to finally accomplish a goal of yours!!! hee hee hee First was the chili cornbread casserole, then pork sinigang and now CHICKEN ADOBO!!!!
So tonight, which is Monday is cooking night. Oh man..I tried the cooking 2-3x a week and i'll tell ya..that is HARD! I have to give our parents props for trying to feed us when we were younger and now, especially me since I just FINALLY moved out of my mom's house. =)
For those of you whom I haven't talked to in awhile, one of my new hobbies is cooking...oh and don't you worry..I'm still tryin to hit up the gym 3x a week so I can maintain the weight that i'm at now.... which has been difficult but doin it.
So about a month ago, I had attempted to make chicken adobo. I was so upset and disappointed on how it turned out. SALTY! EEK!!! Awsome tried making me feel better and was still eating it and telling me he still liked it. I on the other hand knew different. This wasn't how my dad's or mom's adobo tasted. So I thought to myself, what went wrong?? I was searching on the web for recipes and asking friends here and there and finally I came up w/ something tonight..
I decided to use chicken thighs & drummettes instead of chicken breast. I love dark meat by the way. And I'll pan fry it w/ garlic and salt and pepper to taste. As for the vinegar and soy sauce, i'll mix those together in a seperate bowl and keep tasting it to my liking. By the way, I did add some of the Knorr liquid seasoning. As the chicken browned in the pan, I added in the vinegar and soy sauce and let it simmer w/ the chicken. I added in those peppercorns, one bay leaf and added a little sugar. I let the sauce reduce until it was dark and thickened.
Awsome and I sat at our dinner table, said our prayers and dug in! And can I tell you how happy and excited I was that it finally turned out right!!!! woo hoo!!!!! So what's next....PANCIT!!!!!! Wish me luck!!! |
