The Grind

School has started again and everything that I've been used to every August-May is happening again. Adding classes, dropping classes, buying books, auditions -- all the things that mark off the beginning of a new school year.

Luckily (or unluckily) I auditioned in and made it into four ensembles this semester: Chamber Singers [which actually is yearly], University Chorus, Jazz Chorus and Opera Workshop. Opera workshop is a real opera this semester, Claudio Monteverdi's "L'incoronazione di Poppea". Set in Rome, Poppea schemes to become empress by marrying Emperor Nero. But first, Nero must divorce and exile his current wife, Ottavia, much against the will of his advisors (and his wife!) Does Poppea become succesful? Or will the advisors and Ottavia figure out her plans and foil them? You'll find out in November. I'll keep you updated.

And just because I'm still reminiscing over Brasil...
