Die Zauberflote

A month of hard core singing rehearsals is almost done in preparation for SFSU's production of W.A. Mozart's opera, Die Zauberflote (The Magic Flute). Monday is when we start doing the full musical run throughs in front of the whole cast and crew. Then we start the staging. Luckily, our director, Barbara Damashek, is a well known person within the broadway and stage world. In fact, she wrote a musical which earned her three tony award nominations (though I'm not sure if she actually won yet.)

It's a big thing to be a part of a joint production. This show is the collaboration of the music and theater departments, which means that the orchestra and opera specialists do the music, and then the theater donates the staging director, tech crew and costumes. The costumes are going to be sweet!

Monday is the first full run through in front of everyone.

Dates for Magic Flute:
April 22-23, 29-30,
May 6-7 [or whatever the first weekend in May is]
