What a weekend!
First off, my a cappella group, the SFSU Baytones, finally had our first performance all the way down in Calabasas, Socal. We actually didn't do bad at all. We had the honor of sharing the stage with Naked Voices from UC Santa Barbara, Awaken from UCLA, Hart High School and also Calabasas High School. I drove down on Thursday night, but because I took a wrong turn somewhere we didn't end up in Socal until about 7 hours later, around 430 am. Then the hotel cancelled our reservation but ended up finding a room for us anyway. We woke up Friday morning, then rehearsed all day long until 5. The show started at 730. We got many props from the other groups, especially as how we didn't start practicing with our set group of people until 2 months ago. Then we left early Saturday morning and got back into SF at around 7 am.
I then went to my parents' house in Alameda and then crashed until noon. Then I got up and went over to St. Albert's Priory/Chapel in Oakland to sing at a wedding. It turns out that one of my friends used to sing with the group Epic Voices [from Antioch] and she needed a duet partner to sing "The Prayer" from Andrea Bocelli's Sogno album. It's the song with Celine Dion. We got to sing that accompanied by a violin and cello. But unfortunately I couldn't go to the reception because I had to go to work.
Overall, the great weekend was capped by a Mother's Day dinner in Alameda.
Now, just two more performances to go...this weekend, Mozart's Requiem.
