Read Very Carefully
The store that I work at, Great Earth Vitamins has a 1-800 number that matches Bay Federal Credit Union except for the fact that Bay Fed's number starts 1-888. But we get at least 5 calls a day from people who are looking for Bay Fed. I doubt it's a printing error which leads me to believe the people aren't reading very closely.
It reminds me of one day in English 414 [which is for those of us sorry enough NOT to pass the freakin' sophomore writing equivalency exam] when, as we read aloud in class, I noticed that some people didn't read ALOUD as well as others. For example, one guy would read the word "INFORMATIVE" but say "INFORMATION," which led me to believe/theorize/hypothesize that some people make assumptions in certain parts of their everyday lives. In this case, this one guy saw the letters "I-N-F-O-R-M-A-T-I-" and just assumes that "O-N" instead of "V-E" are the last two letters.
Which brings me back to the wrong number situation above. Like my parents taught me, read everything before you sign your name. Which is what I do, sometimes to the impatience of the person whose paper I'm signing. But I do fail in one particular instance: I never read through those online 'agreements' that you're supposed to read when opening accounts, such as emails, etc. I'm always scared that I'll be 'agreeing' away my life or something, although legally the company would be in deep crap.
I hate hypocrisy, especially when it comes from me. So from now on I'll be reading closely too.
