Sorry that it has been almost 3 weeks since I last blogged. But I have a really good excuse....BAPTISM for Git in My Belly!
Well, the event finally came and went this past Saturday. But the preparation for the event has been ongoing and really came to a head the week leading up to this weekend.
Once I finally got all the invitations sent out...all I could do is sit and wait until people RSVP'd. Okay, folks, when people send out invitations, please know that there is a reason for the RSVP... not just so you know my number!!! I still ended up emailing and calling people to find out if they were coming or not. Luckily I just went ahead and expected a lot of more people! Luckily, we didn't run out of food like we did at our wedding!
Well, as for the actual baptism...
BAD = too many babies being baptized at once. I think there were at least 15 -20 babies there. The church had even taken the ceremony out of their regularly scheduled mass and made it its own event on Saturdays.
BAD = parents were not paying attention in the preparation class. We were told over and over again that parents were to undress their child during the homily. That way by the time they went up to the alter for a blessing on their chest and the actual "water pouring thing" they would be ready....
Well...why were we the only ones with our baby naked at the front of the church!! Because parents had to try and undress kids while standing, parents and child were all trippin'.
BAD = we were prepared and ended up at the front of the line for GIMB to be immersed (dipped) in the holy water for his baptismal rite. The priest who was performing the ceremony must have been trippin too because he only poured the water over his head. Even after Brahma Bull insisted on the dipping! He (GIMB) was completely naked, too!
BAD = this mamma got a major headache from the complete chaos in the church and the fact that the priest's assistants were not very helpful! Then try and take pictures with everyone!!! and we ran out of film...and in the rush to get to church on time.. we forgot our extra film.
GOOD = seeing all our family and friends who came to the reception to eat and share this special occasion with our family. One thing... I know that my friends are quite few compared to the total # of guests, but it would have been nice if you weren't so separated from everybody. I know we didn't do such a great job hosting, sorry... but as we continue to have more gatherings hopefully, you will all get to know each other over time!
Congratulations to all the new parents...Atendido's and Tuaua's with your cute bundles of joy who were there...and to the expectant families...del Rosario's, Madayag's, and David's... Looking forward to having them join our play group!!!
The cute part... as we were up on stage thanking everyone, GIMB just stared at his daddy admiringly! That moment just touched my heart! For that one moment we were our own family. I had tears forming in my eyes! Well, as I said the event came and gone with much success --- family and friends were with us for one day! Unfortunately, GIMB was such a hit all by himself that even I had to request to "borrow" him from relatives and especially the grandparents!! Brahma Bull even realized that he never held him during the reception!
Okay, the countdown has begun....6 months before his 1st birthday!! I think I'll start shopping for all the party stuff, now!
Thank you to all you attended...and especially for the great gifts you have showered our son with. To all the Godparents... thank you for your support and love for our family. I know that we made all the right choice with you! For those who weren't picked... I had to save some people for the little one(s) to follow... (NO, not now...maybe in 2-3 years!)
